I imagine he'd be one of the first considered. How about Sumo to replace Woosha? Would hate to see him leave the dockers but he has years of experience with the Eagles and had done a couple of years under Ross Lyon .... Could do worse.
It's interesting to hear the "remove Worsfold then hire someone else" theory. My natural inclination would be to assess all candidates, including Worsfold and appoint the best, which in all likelihood would result in no change.

E87, what would you think about WCE approaching Sumich? The current Lions situation is that the Board decided Voss shouldn't stay on ...
Which up until a couple of months ago was the view of roughly 95% of the football world...
The other stuff is speculation which has arisen primarily because they handled Voss' exit poorly.
We need to move on from Woosh. The reality is that every coach of a Top 8 side bar Lyon is coaching their first team. Which is to say all of them were unknown quantities as senior coaches before they took over their current club. As was Lyon at St Kilda.
I'm sure similar quality candidates are out there now.
Woosh needs to move on. Arguing about who replaces him is what happens after we make the right decision regarding his future.

I've never thought of Suma as a great senior coach in prospect. More a Mark Harvey - quality assistant but maybe doesn't have the package of skills necessary for the main job.
That said, you really never know until they do it. I'd reckon all successful coaches had doubts about them before they took the job.
Any names out there you are interested in? Not saying we have to have someone in mind, just asking who you think would be worth talking to.
I've thought the same about Suma, not a great senior coach prospect, but he may prove me wrong. Alan Richardson has long interested me, Simpson from Hawthorn has big wraps on him. Harvey (Robert) may be a left field thought?
Logic (and history) tend to suggest that the best coaches come from successful teams (when they played) and they often seem to be guys who were tough uncompromising players.
It helps if they can come from an assistant role with a club that has been successful while they are there.
I reckon Simpson fits the bill. Right age, 3 years at Hawthorn. 2 flags as a player. Uncompromising player. Played well when they were very good and bad. Club captain.
But I'm not sufficiently across the assistants to be sure there aren't other equally viable candidates (and I'm sure there are).

Scott Burns ticks a few of those descriptors - I'll go and duck for cover now.
Worsfold doesn't appear to be the sort of guy to admit defeat.
Malthouse had to give him this is 'the end' message as a player - has the board got the courage to give Woosha 'the end' message now?
On the other hand he may be the best person to overhaul the midfield.
Of all the people at WCE Burns probably is best placed to assess the midfield. It may be possible the midfielders problems are not coach related - it could be cattle, box structure, coaching dynamics, recruitment, injury, how they fit into the game plan and so on.
Just thinking aloud.
