Hutchings sprint time absolutely blows my mind. He ran 2.84 which should make him faster than NN (2.86) and Shuey (2.92). What is going on? I imagine top speed must be the thing that sets them apart but still wow.

I mean Dangerfield ran 2.92 and he has a sub 11sec 100m sprint.

So it must be top speed, we don't have many that can really turn on the afterburners and break through the lines (Shuey and NN exceptions). To use a GoEaglesism we really need some more swervability.

The other thing though is that I suspect our game style makes it really hard to look fast because we so frequently kick to the wings.

Hutchings 2009 DC record won't show up anywhere.

It's training and maturity that improved his time as a mature age player. His ball carrying speed is pertty average though.

Well I heard today at our fathers day lunch that Roos really has moved his family to Perth. My uncle in-law has close ties to him here.

Seems if he has moved here there is only one reason he would do this.

Hopefully goodbye Woosh.

Do you really reckon? Surely they would have given woosha a send off. A senior assistants role will be a joke if true. If Woosha needs a senior assistant something surely is wrong

You just described Dayne Beams.

Watched Collingwood-North Melbourne today and kept finding myself sighing as I watched time and time and time again the Pies mids are able to release a disposal in a tackle thanks to core strength, mongrel and some good decision making. A lot easier to look faster in the middle and redeem hospital passes when you have the big-bodied/strong-core mids that can do this.

We have made so many hospital passes this season.

Craig, a former Adelaide coach who took over after Mark Neeld's sacking but has presided over just one win, admits he has enjoyed his return to senior coaching and with the right conditions in place, would be keen to coach the Demons fulltime.
But instead Melbourne are chasing Roos hard - and confirmation of his signing after two seasons out of coaching could come as early as this week.
Roos has already spoken to senior Demons players about the prospect of coaching the club in 2014.
Craig admits the new Demons coach will have much work to do.

There's certainly nothing concrete in that article but it goes to show that Paul Roos is still going to be coaching multiple clubs next season o_O
IMO West Coast fans should get used to the idea that Woosha will be coaching this team for a while yet.

Do people honestly think hutchings is 'that good'?

Seriously i've heard the term "line breaking" thrown around a fair bit, and i just want to make sure i'm on the same page.

Line breaking? Hutchings? He's just another priddis in my opinion. Hard working and runs all day but he looks just as slow. Most likely has better kicking and he's only young which is why i like him, but i certainly don't think he is any sort of answer to our midfield being so shit.

Not holding my breath on Hutcho dominating in 2014 fellas.

On another note.... ****off Worsfold

It's like eating stale bread over and over

Woosha will get at least 2 yrs, maybe 3. Roos for senior assistant would be good as Roos cannot handle the pressure anymore of the top gong. Woosh is as tough as teak.

Why dont you ####off Sharks

Hmm and nothing is truly wrong at our club is it lol.

No things are wrong at our club, but why does a premiership coach and coach of 12 years need another premiership coach as a "senior assistant". Surely that means he isn't up for the job. Are we trying to keep Woosha as the face of our club but let others coach? It's a joke. Go home Woosha.

It seems like they gave up mentally after that Bombers win and putting players in cotton wool as they thought they were no chance to get up in the finals.

After the Geelong & Pies loss i noticed Woosha being happy that they got smashed and just commented on how good Geelong and the Pies look. He just kept mentioning on how much they could learn from those 2 teams. Maybe Woosh has now given up on his game plan from the last 2 years and is looking to emulate Geelongs plan?

I am willing to give him another year to get us back on track but if by the end of next year nothing is changed then it is time for him to step down. Next year there might be other assistants with more experience that would be able to take the transition to a senior coaching role.

Insert Nicnat, Shuey, Hurn, LeCras, Schofield, Kerr, Wellingham, Waters for close to a full season and our side looks much better. Woosh has plenty to answer for this year as far as effort and game day coaching goes but I'm sure if we had close to a full squad out there we would have been in a much better position. I'm not really in Woosha corner but I think he can have one last crack and see what happens next year. It seams like Roos' will go to Melbourne so really if we get rid of Woosh, who is out there that's better than him??

Your right that we would have done better but i think the best we would have gotten was around 7th-6th place. This season has highlighted some massive flaws in the squad but i hope the last 3 loses have not taken any of the morale out of the team.

Seriously, the "who is out there to replace him?" crew need to get a clue ...

As I've said repeatedly, there were doubts about Woosh & Roos as senior coaches immediately before they coached.

There were doubts about Clarkson, Scott, Lyon, Buckley etc etc

Until you get the job and do it there will be uncertainty but there are always a ton of experienced assistants with the right career path from whom the next batch of great coaches will come ... they are out there now... the fact we don't know which ones head that list doesn't change that but a cursory glance at this thread will reveal some names...

Keeping Woosh because there isn't a proven 10 year coach ready to immediately replace him or because the ones that fit that bill some personally don't like (say Williams) is ZERO reason to retain a bloke if that bloke isn't performing ...

The only debate here is whether Woosh's track record as the longest tenured coach in the league warrants a Sheedy like extension or whether it appears he has outlived his time here.

That decision should have been made already, so we remove the uncertainty and can get on with things ....

We have been found out for sure, as far as our game plan and "tactics" go. I sit in the 3 tier stand for the home games and every single game this year, and late last year you could just see how other teams were pushing up, waiting for our stuff up and then straight over the back to run into the open goal, just happened way to often. The players seam to garding space rather than an actual opponent. That's fine if the oppostion turn it over because we are in attacking positions but it seams like all the teams around us have got thier skills up to a standard that is so far above ours, that giving away a few metres to our direct opponent is not good enough and we always look to be chasing a loose man. Woosh has to have had something to do with that sort of game plan, if you can call it that. What ever happened to man on man or our much famed "forward press" which has been non existant since 2011.

This is the key thing - stay or go, it needs to be finalised as soon as possible (with due diligence done of course).

I'm not in either camp anymore, happy if we get a good new coach - but happy enough with Woosh staying - if he has the right people around him.

Either way changes need to be made, and they need to be done asap.

That is true, I just don't want anyone who is at the club now to take over from him. I would actually be keen to give Suma a go if he was interested, seamed to be pretty involved on game day and did well with the midfield group in the mid 2000's, although they could have coached themselves. A few years under Lyon can't have hurt either.

I posted up what I thought to be our best 22 in the list management thread. It lacks run and rebound from defence, has an undersized midfield that lacks pace and is missing a genuine forward line crumber. Overall we do not have enough players that can rotate through midfield and also contribute either in the forwardline or off half back.

What's even more alarming is we seriously lack depth and one draft/trade period isn't going to fix that.

The list needs a rebuild and for that to happen we need a coach who will commit for the long haul - Worsfold is talking another two years then who knows.

Right know the timing is right for a change. Bring in a new coach with fresh ideas and if they want to keep Worsfold around keep him as a coaching director type similar to Eade at Collingwood or Thompson at Essendon.

I really like Woosh and what he's done for the club but I'm having trouble convincing myself that him staying as coach is the best thing for the club.
