Might be too soon, but is there anything on the Freo board about Sumich not going over to Geelong?? If he had already accepted the job, do you reckon he would stay on with Freo for the finals or leave straight away?

Sumich will stay with Fremantle until they are eliminated from the finals ...

If it's Sumich then we're a bunch of idiots.

Agree, as much as i love suma the stigma that west coast is a boys club will continue with another favourite son to be head coach, who knows he may be the best coach ever but i would love a fresh new external approach, hopefully we can get a turn around like port adelaide experienced

We spoke about this on the podcast. Said he would actually restore some of his credibility by stepping aside rather than dragging it out and possibly being sacked mid season. If he has walked, then I think he has done the noble thing; nothing wrong with that for mine.
Is that an accurate recollection of events FiveStrings?

Well it looks better to resign than get sacked right? As a club legend he was probably given the option to resign or he would be sacked.

Rightly so as well, has done arguably the most out of anyone for the club in our history, agree with a previous comment, BnF should named the worsfold trophy

The Coaches Association made new rules this season about assistants not being allowed to even interview for positions until their team's season was over.

Pretty much. Though I seem to recall stating that there'd be a big announcement today but I think it got cut from the final version.*

*may be a complete fabrication.

So does that mean we are just assuming Suma will take over, by we I mean the club or are we on here just talking s**t about it being Suma?

Why? Longmire did a very long apprenticeship under Paul Roos and then took over to win a premiership as head coach. why can't Sumich do the same?

Because we've just had one favourite son as coach, and we don't need another.

As a club, we'd be an attractive coaching option to anyone who thought they were up for the job. If we think we're one of the powerhouses of the league, we should open our substantial chequebook and get us the best that money could buy.

For starters, we should see how much it would take to lure Clarkson away from the Hawks.

Thoughts on Michael Voss to take over? he still wants to coach and having someone from OUTSIDE the club. ALSO, Lions misses out on Paul Roos, Worsfold is also a premiership coach & much cheaper than Roos ...

I'd like to think we have the tenacity to at least enquire about paul roos even if him to melbourne is a done deal, we have a better list, better weather, better facilities, more cash to offer, cant hurt to ask
