Woosha

That's the question you should be asking yourself. You wanted Worsfold gone. Now what?
Or did you only think as far ahead as the coach going?
Will you 'stand behind the club's decision' whoever we appoint?

Am I correct in assuming that you wanted Woosha to stay on as Coach?

I have it on good authority ( a hunch ) the players decided Worsfolds fate in the last month of the season and ultimately decided his future with their on field performances.

Ian Dargie Why are you so fixated on me giving you one coach to say that will do better than Woosh. It is impossible to tell because Woosha wont have a parallel universe to be able to coach the same team.
In which case i'll state this Woosh next season would have won zero games for us as coach therefore any coach is an improvement. Your logic is stupid and self absorbed because your looking for a reason to say I told you so in a years time.

It's not on good authority if you're making a hunch.

Maybe he really rates his hunches?
Kerr, Shuey versus Worsfold and the first 2 are still around with the last not!. I think it was a bit of everything but really the 22 didn't bring it and were not up to AFL standards in the last 3 rounds after having a red hot go against Essendon their performances at Patersons were pathetic lets be honest.

You can't make a ridiculous statement and then call somebody else's logic stupid.

You're both just pissing into the wind anyway because both sides of the argument, including both your interpretations of this season and predictions of next, rely on adapting history to fit a narrative. It's hypothetical bullshit.

Next season we'll have a new coach. Maybe he'll do better than Woosh would have. Maybe he won't. Hopefully we improve on this season anyway.

I read your post several times but still fail to understand what you are saying. Would you mind explaning a little bit more (especially the reference about Kerr, Shuey and Worsfold)? A full stop some where in your post would have done wonders by the way.

I can't work out where you're coming from. If the players decided Worsfold's fate in the last month then what have Kerr and Shuey, neither of whom played in that time, got to do with it?

Yeah I'm a little seedy today, rumour is Kerr and Shuey lead some kind of mini revolt and won in the end with Woosh gone.

What is Kerr going to achieve by removing his long time coach when in fact he himself could gone within a few weeks? It is highly unlikely that Kerr would have problems with Worsfold's style of play after playing under him for 12 years. Shuey defended the game plan a few weeks back. As Fivestrings said, they did not play (well Shuey did play half a game) in the last 3 games so could not have influenced the outcome.
If we are to assume that Hagdorn article is true (most likely it is not) then the player mentioned there may well be Rosa (who was playing WAFL when fit) and not Shuey or Scott Selwood.

Good to see the board making a real tough decision, that's why they get they get big $$$. It was never going to be popular decision but the right one. Also I believe Woosh made a huge mistake coming out in public last month and demanding a 2 year contract rather than one. That was uncalled for specially after the year we had. He never discusses his contracts on public, so one would say there was an agenda behind that statement. It was getting messy at the end but overall the right decision, woosh did great for west coast in 24 years, thank you so much for everything you did.

I felt that his record was good enough that we weren't compelled to replace him. Some people felt that he absolutely had to go - I never saw it that way, particularly given the lack of outstanding potential replacements.

That said, if he didn't want to carry on, then I don't think we should have persuaded him to stay.

It's a hypothetical. But that doesn't mean those who wanted Worsold to go shouldn't be expected to address it.

Was it the board's decision?

Did he publicly demand a two-year deal?

What decision? Woosha pulled the pin and saved them from making one.

But you have no view on who that should be?

For example, do you think Scott Burns would be an improvement?

Hypothetically, lets say he says yes. Where does that get us?

I mean you could then go on a 20 paragraph rant explaining why he has no basis for that view given Burns has no record at all. And on we go.

No need for a 20-paragraph rant.

But sure, if people believe Burns would be an improvement, I'd like to hear why.

I just think that those who went on about wanting Worsfold to go should be able to offer some kind of cogent view about what happens after he goes. And by that, I mean offering an opinion of their own about who they want as a replacement, and not simply saying 'I'll back whoever the club appoints'.
