Do folks stick fat with their greens (and yellows) or do you sometimes try five fresh letters to maximise the chance of uncovering new letters?

Do you find 90% of the time, when left with a choice of say two to five possible words, it's almost always the most commonly used or known word of the set?

Do you have a go-to starting word or try to mix it up lest you get bored?

Do you think there are enough words with J,Z,X,Q just to make it a bit tricky?

If I have greens and yellows I will use them the following go to try and get them in the right spot.

Used to have a few go to starting words but now I just try and use words that have common consonants and a few vowels.

Interesting. I know someone who goes the other way by starting with a word containing four vowels, in an attempt to basically figure out the vowels straight away.

Adieu was one of my starting words but I never found it that beneficial.

I like to try and get words ending in E, or with EA combination, or AI.
 
Also, they have their favourite words that you get to know. This one bobs up in all these games, Dordle etc.

No there is a lot of luck involved. It all depends on your first word; everyone would have a different one and it could contain relevant letters or none. But at least you can eliminate those letters.

My advice would be to practise on Octordle. You get a lot more guesses and you can use up the first three or four with words that contain as many different letters as possible, then the words are a lot easier to work out. You also learn about the kind of words they go for - these are common across all the puzzles.

I find Wordle and Dordle the trickiest, but the bigger ones are easier.
