I mix it up very often. I found sticking with the same word(s) never helps too much.

Will try something with at least two vowels though or something ending in E. I do like raise though.

I always start with STARE, I did change it up a bit a little while ago and it caused me no end of trouble, so I scurried back to the familiar

I vary mine but usually something that uses a couple of vowels and common letters, such as house, or train. For Quordle and bigger comps I start with four elimination words that use up 20 letters, chimp, belts, frown, gaudy.
