“It’s been a big week in football…Aaaaand there’s trouble at Collingwood!!!”.

You will never hear those words on the Footy Show. Not because there never will be trouble at Collingwood but because the Collingwood Football Club is protected from being subjected to that sort of coverage. That protection does not apply to other clubs – particularly the Melbourne Football Club and its President Joe Gutnick which had to put up with yet another pathetic destablisation attempt on Thursday night’s Footy Show in the guise of the great Ron Walker for President beat up.

Eddie. If you want to wallow in that sort of muck on the Footy Show you will only expose the massive conflict of interest that exists between your position as a journalist and the other hat you wear as president of an AFL club. Why don't you spare us of the spectacle of your hypocrisy and your despicable double standards and resign one of those positions now?

The issue here is not who broke the story but how Eddie uses his position as both a president and a "journalist" to destabilise other AFL clubs.

Here's a hypothetical situation:

There is big trouble down at Collingwood, a coach may be getting sacked, or they have salary cap breaches, or they have trouble at board level.

As a "journalist" and the "club president" Eddie will not open the show with "And there's trouble down at Collingwood". He will NOT inflame the issue, he will NOT beat up the issue, he WILL either shut and say nothing or he will USE his position in the media and as the president to put a positive spin on the situation rather than put a negative spin on it in order to destabilise the club.

This is why he should get his priorities straight and resign from one of those positions.

what you people forget is that "The Footy Show" is not a public resource...it is a commercial entity.

If you do not like the way it is run, or any "conflict of interest" it may have, you cannot complain or talk to your local politician.....just TURN THE BLOODY TELLY OFF.

If channel nine have a show which is so blantenty biased then no-one should watch it. But you do don't you ? If you don't like Eddie, don't watch. If you think Collingwood are treated differently to other clubs....don't watch.

At the end of the day Eddie could lose some of his "Journalistic Integrity" (not that he is a Journalist) but that has never stopped channel 9 before (think 60 minutes)....he cannot have a conflict of interest as channel nine are a commercial entity and are full of conlficts of interests (you never here them bag a sponsor's product do you ? is that a conflict of interest ?)

All presidents use the media for the good of their own club and Eddie is no different. The assurance you have in all this is channel seven and the ABC. If there was trouble at collingwood they would pick it up and run with it....you don't expect Smorgon to come clean on trouble at the buldogs so why Eddie ?

oh btw....I think Eddie is a git and I don't watch the FS but give the guy a break.

Outside people. Wasn't the bloke standing for the board, the car bloke, a lifelong supporter who had put plenty of money into the club when Eddie still had shit in his nappy.

The fact that you believe that the story was about "outside people challenging the pies board" shows that the story was twisted to suit Eddie's agenda. If I remember correctly, the spin was that it was about horrible predators trying to muck the club up for personal gain.

As far as Channel Nine is concerned, anything at all Western Australian is to be avoided at all costs.

Channel Nine want to punish Western Australians for having the nerve to watch Channel Seven more than Channel Nine.

Perth is the only Capital City where Nine consistently run second to Seven, so why should Channel Nine even acknowledge such a place as Western Australia even exists ?
