I have a bit of a story here today so sit back and let me tell you a tale of what happened at work today.

I had Monday off due to a sickness of my child, however I got to work and there is a guy I work with who I have gotten on with for over a year. His only downfall is that he is a Docker supporter, but I always had a lot of respect for him, his thoughts on his team as well as his football knowledge. During the week we had our little light-hearted banter with each other and on the Friday before each derby, we always shook hands and wished each other luck.

Well, today things changed. I got to work today and saw him in the warm up room, I smiled at him and saw he got up and come towards me inside the warehouse. To my surprise, I saw a different man. He came out of the warm up room looking very angry, flipped me the bird and came at me abusing me. His abuse consisted of the words, **** you, **** you Eagle supporters, you are all a bunch of *****, drug addicted pedophiles. I hate you, I hate you all, I hate your ****ing drug addicted team. His finger was close to my face as he looked threatening. I stood there stunned, was this the guy I nicknamed cupcake because he was such a soft hearted guy who always had a smile for everyone and would never hurt a fly? No, surely this can't be right. I stood there stunned, turned around and went back to my duties. A couple of minutes later and with his words still reeling inside my head, I felt angry and stormed off into the freezer to confront him. I asked him what his problem was. He was pissed off with the Selwood incident as well as Josh Carr being charged from hitting Chick. He then repeated the words that I was a drug addicted pedophile and a cry baby. That's when he crossed the line. First of all, we Eagle's supporters should not be blamed for what is happening at the club, we love our club, but we don't have control over what happens with our players. Secondly, Josh Carr is a cheap hit behind the play thug and has a history of going to the tribunal. Thirdly, I am not a pedophile and as a father of 7 kids, I took offence to this and then in no uncertain terms told him to back off. I then ripped into him, lettingt him know I do not condone his bullshit, nor is it my fault what happened regarding the Hedland incident or the Chick / Carr incident. I told him if he ever called me a pedophile again I would do something to him that he will regret. I then told him that if Fremantle did not have this small man syndrome with their club, a lot of this hatred would not be between the two clubs. He then sdaid he hated the Eagles, I said fine, I hate Freo, he then asked what did Freo do so wrong to the Eagles. I then explained why I hated that club way before they played their first game when they started their shit about us being snobs and chardonnay sippers etc etc. The demolition derby was another reason why I despise them, and though Read was at fault, Kickett had to be a headcase for trying to take them all on.

After I said my piece I walked away from him. It seemed I was not the only Eagle supporter at work who he attacked, there were 6 of us in total who he called the same names as me and he nearly got his head smacked in from a couple of the other blokes he attacked. Even the Freo supporters at work told him to pull his head in.

Sad to say, I don't consider him a friend anymore, nor will I ever speak to him again. Being called a pedophile was the line he crossed, and he can even shove his bet up his arse where he betted me five bucks that the Dockers will make the grand final before the season started. I have no idea what got into him, however, I do think he did get ahead of himself thinking that the Dockers had the flag in the bag and they would smash the Eagles everytime they played us.

Sorry to say, his tiny world fell apart around him on Saturday night, along with his sanity and my friendship.

It's amazing how some people can snap so unexpectedly (and just over something small like a game of footy!). I guess the old saying "you don't know someone until you've walked a mile in their shoes" rings true here.

Good onya for showing the restraint not to thump him.

goldenblue, thats frickin unbelievable. someone to snap like that over a game is truly unbelievable. glad you restrained yourself. i know for sure if he had called me a paedophile i wouldve smacked him on the spot just to let him know you cant just walk around saying eagle supporters are drug using paedophiles. its like saying muslims are all terroists or catholics priests are all paedophiles.

sure a few jokes once in a while and a bit of banter between the sides is ok but accusing someone of being a paedophile especially if they are a parent is revolting and disgusting. for some strange feeling he could be someone from bigfooty ;)

Jeez, where do you work? I'm very disappointed that the derby is in the school holidays becasue it means we miss out on the traditional eagles supporters vs dockers supporters footy match at school. Last time it was a 9 goal to the blue and gold army demolition with 4 goals to yours truely:D . But anyway, good restraint, if i punched every whinging angry dockers supporter i met i'd be in jail for quite a while.

What a nutter. Get that guy sacked. Sounds like a axe murderer

Fortunately Kalgoorlie is Eagles country so we don`t have too many problems. One of my Electrical wholesellers is a Sydney supporter so that's always good fun when I drop in.

I visited one of my other vendors yesterday. My usual comment when I walk in the door is "Hows those Eagles eh?". Geezus - you`d think I`d shat in the corner with what followed. The guys a Vic and started ranting that we don`t belong in the comp, bringing the game to new lows, druggie this and that. I said "wait until you see what we have in stall for Fev this weekend" and exited.

Grumpy old bugger.

Yeah there are a few oxygen thieves out there. I copped a fair bit from a couple of absolute knucke-draggers walking back from the ground on Saturday, despite minding my own business. To these 2 or 3 apparently the game and result were irrelevent, and I was 'f***** scum', 'hated' etc. purely because I was walking down the street wearing a gold and blue jumper. How I was able to inspire so much hatred by simply being within 10m of another couple of people a mystery...

Things have been pretty quiet at my work.
Freo supporters seem to disappear when they are losing.

GB, I'm surprised you the have time to go to work with the amount of moderating you've had to do this week.

Yeah I live in Adelaide and all I hear now is "OH, whats going on down there, Is Benny on the ice still ahhahaha" and Im like "mate, old news... Did you know we are undefeated and top of the ladder and oh yeah reigning Premiers"

Funny, no one ever wants to join in on that conversation :D

I'll share another story of a completer Dockers tosser who couldn't distinguish between what's off field and whats on field...

Cast your minds back to the first derby of 2005 i think it was. It was the night the Dockers killed us in the first half, Luke McPharlin took mark of the year off with a screamer, before Ash Hansen tore McPharlin a new one in the second half to spear head the Eagles to victory.

I wasn't at that match as i'd gone to see the WWE at Burswood dome that night (Hush all of you!) and was getting regular score updates on my phone. So i kept those around me up to date with the scores and there was some obvious excutemet after the game when we won. Texted some Eagles supporting friends to see if they were heading out, and with us all living near Freo we headed in there after the game to celebrate the win.

So we go in and we're celebrating and having a good time, and we decide to walk from Metros to Harbourside. We pass a group of guys wearing Dockers jumpers and my mate goes, 'Go the Eagles'. One of their guys arcs up and starts hurling abuse saying we were scum, we weren't at the game (it was a Dockers home game so tickets were next to impossible to get) and that we weren't true fans and he starts trying to get in our faces. We just laughed at his pitiful attempts to get tough and just walk off in the other direction as we didn't want to waste any time getting in a fight over nothing with this guy as we were there to have fun, not get into a fight. So we're walking away singing the Eagles song, and still copping abuse from this one guy and not paying attention to him which is making him madder. Next thing i know i hear someone running up behind us and i turn around just in time to see this complete tosser of a Dockers supporter run up behind my mate from behind and try and king hit him, before running off laughing in the other direction.

Now trying to king hitting someone from behind, especially something over something so trivial as the result of a football game ,is a dog act, however when your about 5'8, as this guy was, and the guy who he choose to hit is about 6'3 and 100kgs of muscle as my mate is, then well your really asking for trouble. The guy should have known he picked the wrong guy when he actually had to jump up just to hit my mate in the head.

Needless to say the guy soon regretted his actions. My mate caught up with him pretty darn fast and proceeded to show the guy what he thought of his cowardly act. We let my mate get in a few choice blows before we pulled the two apart and the dockers supporters marched their friend in one direction while we marched my mate off in the other.

Just shows that some people can't leave the emotions of a game onfield and take their furstration out on opposition supporters off field. To try and king hit someone from behind who's walking away from you over a bit of banter is the lowest dog act i've ever seen by an opposition supporter :thumbsd:

However i will say that im glad not all Dockers supporters are like this, some of them are pretty decent guys and my best friend is actually a dockers fanatic. It's just guys like this one, and the guy Goldenblue works with that can give the rest of them a bad name.

Those are examples of a couple of pathetic fans, but there are knob heads that support every club. Most Fremantle fans I've met are nowhere near that bad and are the complete opposite to the hate filled drivel you read on this site.

These people obviously have a problem that needs some kind of counselling.

On the opposite end of the scale, one of my best friends is a Sydney supporter (and a long time one at that) and he hates the Eagles with a passion. However he had enough respect to not rub it in when Sydney won in '05 and I returned the favour in '06. Sure, there is a bit of gentle ribbing every now and then, but we both know what major football supporting pain feels like.

Unfortunately, a lot of Fremantle fans don't. They'd be better for it.

I guess that's like a couple of Eagles players doing a few naughty things and giving our whole club and supporters a bad name as well.
