Yes, good post E87. I suppose I see Stevens as a direct replacement. I think he plays the most like Priddis' "typical" role but I also think that's what they're getting him to focus on in his role at East Freo, being damaging forward. Which, I must say he's been doing very well in the number of games I've seen of his this year. He also seems to be able to take it up a notch when the game is on the line, like the past 2 weeks against Swans and West Perth.

I think Worsfold mentioned Stevens and Swift in saying that it's up to them to displace Priddis and Embley. Not sure if I remember that correctly.

If Stevens and Swift are competing for Priddis' spot in future then they surely aren't competing for Embley's? Priddis and Embley play verrrrry different roles.

We have an Embley replacement auditioning this week, and hopefully the original sticks around for a while as he is in great touch.

It was Gaff who had to displace Embley

I told you I hadn't remembered correctly! :p Just knew 2 names were mentioned.

He is a very limited player playing a lot of minutes in a key position - I reckon we'd be immediately better having Kerr, S Selwood & Shuey as our starting mids but that relegates Pridda to the bench because he can't play anywhere else.

Can't be bothered debating the rest of the post (been done ad nauseum) but just on this we essentially do have Kerr, Scooter and Shuey as our starting mids. Every game we rotate four (not three) primary players through the centre square - Priddis, Kerr, Shuey and Scooter. We will also rotate a 5th at times throughout a match (most commonly NickNat, LeCras or A.Selwood) just for a change up but primarily it is the aforementioned four. There is not a massive difference in the amount of centre square contests that these four play in (I believe the order of number of times in the middle is Scooter, Priddis, Kerr and Shuey). So I think you can make an argument that any combination of these four players are our starting midfield.

... whether its worth carrying a guy because of his "inside" work when the nature of our game sees him getting 15+ outside possessions a game is a question for others to determine and I guess my view is I'd like someone who hurts teams way more when we get the ball because at present he doesn't.
Determined. First bloke selected each week. :thumbsu:

And he will continue to be so until some of the other blokes with potential to replace Priddis step up & make it happen. There's plenty of blokes being given the opportunity to do so each week.

Get over it.

Another Rubbish Game from the Plodder. All he has going for him are clearances which result in dicky little 1m handballs that result in turnovers. Today he didn't even get the clearances. It was like we were playing 1 man short all game. Rubbish Footballer and the most 1 dimensional player the game has seem. Shame on you match committee, shame!

He was down today but so was the whole team. Seemed like a typical Priddis kind of game actually. Only one play really annoyed me. It was early in the game, someone spotted him up about 40m out from goal, he lazily played on and was run down easily.

When Priddis was winning the ball today we loojked so much better as a team, when he went quiet, the whole team was under pressure.

I'm no optometrist but you must need glasses. Priddis was second best on ground today for us. Right behind Cox.

Better than Hurn who had 14 marks across half back, was our best user of the ball out of defense and set up forays forward?

Better than LeCras who had 28 touches and kicked two goals, and was our best user of the ball in the middle?

Better than Kennedy who was the standout key forward on the ground and kicked 4.2 in a low scoring match?

If you watched today's game and think Priddis was our 2nd best then it's probably not your eyesight that is the issue...

Yeah agreed terrible game by the Ploddus today. Kicks were :mad::mad:
And he let Gold Coast dominate the clearances

Actually we won the clearances today against the side ranked number 1 in the competition in clearances. Mind you - Priddis was only 3rd in clearances for us (Cox and LeCras were equal 1st). Other than Ablett's demolition of Scooter I thought we actually won all the midfield battles today.

A poor first half for Priddis, seemed like many others to be cruising - certainly nowhere near his normal workrate so that was pretty disappointing. Recovered well to be a very important player for us in the 2nd half and probably very close to in our best half dozen by games end.

I saw 3 quarters of Gold Coast dominance against us. We went missing in the late 1st, 2nd , 3rd and early 4th quarter. If we had won our midfield battles the ball would've been in our forward 50 instead of the other half of the ground.

We did well in clearance situations all game.

GC press really suffocated us for long stretches and that's the reason we had only 3 i50's in the last.

That's because virtually the entire team came to a standstill in the third quarter.

His value as a bigger bodied, more experienced player really shined through today. It doesn't discount his inability to damage but he was one of the few who stood up in that second half and for that, he should be commended.

I am a fan of Priddis but he was very average today. So many times his handpasses and kicks put team-mates under pressure it wasn't funny. I was screaming at him. Mind you, a lot of West Coast Eagles players were fumbling the ball today.

We went from top four contenders in the first 15 minutes to bottom four side shortly after.

Poor fella gets the harshest criticism every week. He gets judged harshly because he sets the bar so high. One of our most important players in our team currently.
