When this is all over there will be a lot of office vacancies as companies realise they dont need 30 floors in a cbd highrise.

We were already setup for most employees globally to be mobile or remote and most already were so no big change for a lot of us.My team starts tomorrow.
In my experience, although bigger organisations tend to have the best WFH setups on paper they have been the slowest to implement it across the board because of scale issues.
Our team is the first of thousands of employees who will soon be drawing on our server capacity to run remote desktops, and I don’t think our IT department’s BCP ever envisaged that sort of load.
We are similar, but it wasn’t SOP for 100% of support staff, 100% of the time.We were already setup for most employees globally to be mobile or remote and most already were so no big change for a lot of us.

SA Health would be a very, very low %.I'd be interested to know what % of people who can work from home are.
I think everyone acknowledges that WFH is less productive, for a bunch of reasons. The real question is whether the lost productivity outweighs the reduced costs.I spent the first 11 years of my working life doing a time sheet for every minute & was expected to recover 1500 hours pa, i.e bill it to a client & the bill paid.
It isnt a requirement of most admin jobs,& isnt achieved across most admin jobs - doing them from home fulltime is less productive again imho.
my work from home is more productive
staright away i am up 1 hour minimum saved from 30 min transport each way
then, less idle chit chat in cubicles, corridors etc
i do 20% more work a day than i do in office over the last 8 years
10% comes from no transport (1 hour less travel on a 10 hour day)Why 20%? Most admins have a 20% no work factor in everything but the wages.
If so it will be a bit of a nightmare. I know my work sent me home without the required environment prechecks, simply because they didn’t have time or capacity to check every employee’s home office.
The full gamut of OH&S bullshit. Everything from a workstation check for ergonomics to an environmental risk assessment of things like ventilation, lighting and smoke detectors.what do these involve, generally speaking?

I imagine that they’ll send out the forms for us to do a self-assessment at some point. Mind you, you just know that means some idiot will declare their workstation unsafe and put in a requisition for a $2K standing desk.
Goddamn, before all this COVID s**t I was nailing the WFH life.Benefits:
* I'm a massive tightarse and I like saving money on travel/ takeaway coffees/ lunch (too lazy to prep my own)
* Home office = bullshit tax deductions (furniture, decorations, internet, heating, etc)
* No one cares if half the tabs open on my PC are bigfooty or pornhub
* No need to wear pants
* Sleeping in, especially when the better half has a late start. Best way to start the day.
* Suits my natural rhythm- wake up midday, work 'til late
* Smoke weed all day.
Drawbacks:
* It's really hard to get motivated when I spend all day smoking cones, watching filth and hanging out on bigfooty.
* It's also stressful when deadlines approach and I've done fu** all
Still, I love it.
Preach brotherGoddamn, before all this COVID s**t I was nailing the WFH life.
Now it's f’ed.
It was fine when it was just me, now I'm sharing the home with the wife and she's home too it's rubbish.
Kitchen's a ******* mess, need to do the dishes before I can make some coffee, means I'm less productive.
And now I'm the tech support dickhead for some other company ("HEY ARE YOU STREAMING AGAIN? INTERNET IS SLOW. DOES THE PRINTER WORK? BLAH BLAH BLAH")
Internet has been rubbish too.
