Working while at Uni/Tafe

What did/does everyone do for a job while at uni. Reading the 21 thread someone said at 21 they are earning $40k whilst at uni.

I work at a well know 'family restaurant' as a manager. I work probably on average 30 hours a week. More during holidays, less during exams. Will probably pull $25k this year.

I know working those hours i probably could earn more, but my job just has such high flexibility with shifts especially when it comes to exams, going on holiday etc. I'd love to do bar work like alot of my mates, but they seem to get shitty 3-5 hour shifts all the time, whereas i dont work many under 8.

What does/did everyone do for a job while studying? Where is the money? Where is the fun?

Lucky enough to be in an area of the public service which is open on weekends. I put in about 30 hours a week

Im doing my finishing course which is pretty full on.

I do 8 hour days on Saturday and Sunday at weekend rates and those 2 days covers my weekly expenses. Ive never had a shift cancelled so the income is reliable, and always get offered full time hours over summer

I work in banking part time; was working full time earning roughly $56k before going back to uni so now doing two days a week at about $23k. Plus I get overtime pretty much whenever I want it at double time

So I got it pretty sweet

I work at Cheap as Chips (SA's own Reject Shop for those outside of SA) when i'm not at uni (full time physiotherapy). Thursday nights, and usually one day on the weekend, with the occasional whole weekend. Get about 20 hours per week over summer (I don't want any more).
Was good for about 12k last year.

Host poker nights for Australian Poker League during the week and on Sundays in pubs across WA.

The work is good, relatively easy and fits around university well. About 6 hours a night maybe 2/3 nights a week...

Disagree... I rarely see any fat people at McDonalds. Its bad for business...

I earn $18.50/Hour @20yo... I earn usually around $500/week so its pretty good for someone doing full time study. But so many of my mates earn like $22/hour and then get like $30 on Sat and $40 on Sunday, but just can't seem to get enough hours to earn how much i earn.

Maybe im just too picky!! I just get annoyed when mates earn more than me (per hour)....

Iv seen a lot of managers at HJ's/Macca's etc... a bit on the porky side. Not the young front staff though, they all have to be female and relatively good looking to work the counter, while the pimply teenage guys cook the burgers...
