add a few people not counted tonight. I wandered down for a look, the atmosphere from outside sounded fantastic, and what do you know, an open, unmanned gate appears with people just walking in and out. In I go. Saw the entire 2nd innings for free. Not sure how that happens when the AO have an overkill of staff and cameras, and a modern stadium, but there you go. Thoroughly entertaining seeing the batter between the Indians and Pakistani's. Couple of times the police lost control when things got a bit exciting.

Maybe a little hit AO, if you have lots of gates at the bottom of the staircases, that can easily be opened on the inside (for emergency exits) maybe keep track (especially for a world cup games between India and Pakistan) if someone opens it and then leaves it open for 10 mins so everyone thinks its a pass-out gate.

Given they already had got all the money from ticket sales leaving a gate open for safety reasons at an India v Pakistan match is not silly.

The soccer world cup final gets about half a billion. A cricket world cup group game will not nearly approach that.

Pakistan has a population of nearly 200 million
India 1.25 billion
plus the rest of the world, consider there are millions of indians living around the world as well
most of them are mad cricket nuts
would be a good chance of it.

Alot of scalping was occurring for the india vs pakistan match which also contributed to the disappointing attendance. Also, if people leave booking flights/accomm to that game soo late then they are freaking idiots. It was reported early on that this would be a major game and therefore flights/accomm would be costly if you booked late.

Yep it's sold out. More tickets will go on sale closer to the date though. Like this Friday's NZ v England game which was previously sold out, now there are a good number of tickets available again. God knows why they do this, as people will just assume it's already sold out and not bother looking for tickets again.

Yeah that's what happened to me today. I thought Bangladesh vs Afghanistan was sold out when I checked earlier in the week and then I turn on the tv this afternoon and there's still a few seats and apparently there was more put on sale. Strange system.

Yeah Ticketek always do this whether it's the footy or the cricket. It's rather annoying as it's hard to get a complete sell out as a result of their BS system.

Most of the last minute releases are promotor holds that have gone unused. Very common with events like concerts, one off sporting events etc. Hell it's happened with AFL GF's in the past.

If you ever miss out on tickets to something, always check a few days out when the promotor hold returns go back on sale.
