If it wasn’t for the Indian Cricket Council dictating their domestic tournament as more important than the World Cup then most of the games would have been played before the weather turned to **** and we’d be in finals with reserve days by now, so I hope it screws India over being denied an easy NRR boosting win tonight
Were you talking about how much people were overreacting by complaining about the rain?

The weather has been an absolute killer. But it's a bit hysterical to throw out lines like why host it in the UK? (although maybe these are being said with tongue firmly planted in cheek?)

Last summer would have been perfect weather for the world cup, and the summer before was great weather too. Likewise the 1999 world cup was hosted with just the one washout.

Unfortunately, it's just not happening for us this summer.

What's the rules if a semi final is washed out? Similar to BBL where the higer placed team makes the final? Or are there reserve days for the semi's like there is for the final?

From Cricinfo:

Semi Final
If a Semi-Final is tied, the teams shall compete in a Super Over to determine which team progresses to the Final.
If following a tie, weather conditions prevent the Super Over from being completed, or if the match is abandoned or a no result at the end of the reserve day, then the team which proceeds to the Final will be the team that finished in the higher position in the League Stage.
Final
In the event of a tied final, the teams shall compete in a Super Over to determine which team is the winner.
If following a tie, weather conditions prevent the Super Over from being completed, or if the match is abandoned or a no result at the end of the reserve day, the teams shall be declared joint winners.

------

Looks like reserve day only comes into play in the case of a no-result.

But does that mean in the final if there is a super over which results in a tie, the trophy is won jointly?

You'd hope not. It'd be far too anti-climactic. They'd have more tie-breakers on hand surely.

Not sure how I feel about a Super Over potentially deciding the World Cup. Feels almost like that Futurama episode where Fry goes to the baseball.

Officially called off. The weather and the ICC's idea of scheduling claim another victim. Sri Lanka breathe a sigh of relief that it wasn't them again.

Relief? Rain's pretty much the only way they're likely to get points for the rest of the tournament.

Hey, show some respect, they beat Afghanistan. Afghanistan! The team that's so professionally run, one of their players played the first few games with an injury apparently severe enough to subsequently rule him out for the rest of the tournament, something he found out about through the media! It takes a special kind of team to beat the Pride of Kandahar.
