Virtual elimination final surely
Both teams surely ?For who?
Both teams surely ?
Batsmen have it way too easy now. Bring back uncovered pitches, full size boundaries, original thickness bats, and the back foot no ball ruleMaybe we can go back to playing on uncovered wickets. That would liven things up a bit.
It's no coincidence that tests used to be timeless. For a game so incredibly reliant on good weather it's amazing that England were the ones that invented it.
Australia need 2 wins with Sri lanka, SA, Bangladesh, England and New Zealand. Both teams surely ?
English weather isn't anything to do with it though. timeless tests were mostly an Australian thing. pre-WW2, a typical English test match was 3 days. It seems from around Bradman's time Ashes matches in England were changed to 4 days, but tests against WI and SA were still three days from what I know. I think it was only after 1950 that the norm became 5 day matches. county cricket was still three days going into the 1980s.It's no coincidence that tests used to be timeless.
Bangladesh and Sri Lanka are the only games we go in as favourites. Can't see us winning any of England, South Africa or New Zealand. Reasonable to call this an elimination final.
Their performances so far this tournament are unlikely to be a reflection on how they will perform in a head to head against Australia. Australia simply can not place their batsmen under the same pressure other teams have.Have you seen South Africa this tournament?

I'm trying to math it out, but I think even 9 points and good NRR could get Australia through.
The lower teams keep beating each other/washouts which will lower the threshold.
