Maybe we can go back to playing on uncovered wickets. That would liven things up a bit.
Batsmen have it way too easy now. Bring back uncovered pitches, full size boundaries, original thickness bats, and the back foot no ball rule

It's no coincidence that tests used to be timeless.
English weather isn't anything to do with it though. timeless tests were mostly an Australian thing. pre-WW2, a typical English test match was 3 days. It seems from around Bradman's time Ashes matches in England were changed to 4 days, but tests against WI and SA were still three days from what I know. I think it was only after 1950 that the norm became 5 day matches. county cricket was still three days going into the 1980s.

the only exceptions in England were if the last match was a series decider, they would change it to a timeless match

I don’t think this is an elimination match for either team. There are lots of matches to be played out.

I estimate you will need six wins to make the semi-finals and if Australia win tonight it will go a long way to securing a top four spot.

I think Australia will go in unchanged.

I think 5 wins and a solid NRR will be enough for us to make semis.

Last time they used this format 4 wins and a washout was enough to finish 4th. One more match each this time.

If we finished on 5 wins, teams from WI down would basically need to win 4 from 5 to leapfrog us and that is not likely to happen. Sri Lanka are complete rubbish and have been lucky to get wash outs. England and India are one day killing machines so won't drop many games to that bottom lot. Look, we would probably want to win 6 to make sure of it as a couple of teams may have long memories of us manipulating the super sixes way back when and drop a dead rubber, but pretty confident 5 and a NRR of like 0.25 would do it.

Their performances so far this tournament are unlikely to be a reflection on how they will perform in a head to head against Australia. Australia simply can not place their batsmen under the same pressure other teams have.

South Africa haven't fallen apart because of pressure, they've fallen apart because they're not that good. Brittle batting and blunted bowling.

Sa are probably going to be so eliminated by the time we play them which will help us if that game decides our fate, yes they would want to knock us out but it would still be a dead rubber at the end of a long disappointing campaign for them.
