Anything less than 6 points and a +5 goal difference is a poor result from these 2 games, IMO. We should realistically be winning both of these comfortably but it is something we never do.

The last few campaigns is littered with scrappy teams pushing us way too far, or us dropping points.

Let's hope after the last block we've hit our straps and come out of these games unscathed.

Really hope Arzani finally comes on, could see Boyle playing ST to accomodate it.

Arzani was a real head scratcher for me at the Olympics. Some creative moments of brilliance, paired with some terrible moments.

Hopefully it's due to his lack of game time over the past few seasons, if he can increase the brilliant moments he could be the cornerstone to our attack in years to come.

We'll do well to get 6 points. No MacLaren, no Leckie are big outs when added to the fact we're having to play on neutral ground. Last time we had to play China in qualifying we took 1 point from 2 games H&A and that was with a much better Socceroos squad.

Great start to the group a 3-0 win. Now on we are off to Vietnam! 3 points there will have us flying.

Saudi Arabia plays Oman next, so we'll see where they're at after that game

I think Oman defeating Japan not a great result. Japan will bounce back and Oman a rival for second spot
Hard to say, we'll know more in the coming 2 games as Oman play the Saudis and us.

Could be a one off result or the start of a serious push.

Taking all that in, starting your campaign at home against a minnow and losing is a horrid start for Japan.

Game day (or game night 😬). Big chance to keep the streak alive and get 3 points closer to qualification.

We've been creating a stack load of chances, hopefully tonight we get ruthless with the finishing.

Group A has shown how tight these groups can end up, on the first match day two 0-0 results and a 1-0 win to Iran over Syria.

We need to get the job done early, don't want to be chasing results away at the likes of Saudi Arabia later in the campaign. Must win game tonight followed by most win games at home to Saudis and away to China in November.

Yep, our last 2 games are Japan at home and Saudi away. You don't want to be chasing 4 or 6 points in those last 2 games if you can avoid it.
