So it all comes down to this, A win on Thursday night and its direct qualification to a sixth World Cup in a row anything else we will have to wait on other results or an away match to Saudi Arabia, Its quite simple really but easier said than done. Hopefully it's a packed house in Perth with 60k Fans wiling the Socceroos on to victory against Japan it would be wonderful to not have to worry about a possible playoff round.

Technically wins for both Australia and Saudis on Thursday mean qualification is still live going into the last round.

But Australia go in with a +9 GD headstart... so it'd take something like:
Australia 1-0 Japan
Bahrain 0-5 Saudi Arabia
Saudi Arabia 3-0 Australia

For a win on Thursday to not be enough for direct qualification.

Every spot in the group is up for grabs aside from Japan's first place. Hopefully they're on holidays and unconcerned about a tough hit out.

Bahrain are right in the mix of 4th place, so wouldn't expect them to roll over to the Saudis.

Plus the Saudis have 4 (four) goals across the 8 games it would be a hell of a turnaround to claw back 9 GD... And I thought we had problems finding the net.

See someone is a recent Socceroos supporter…
If it can be done, we are the team to have it happen to :p

Yeah nah on the recent... I fell in love with the socceroos in 1993 with the young Mark Schwarzer in goal and his heroics in the penalty shootout against Canada in the WC qualifier.

Plenty of heartbreak to come after that before the good times.

Even with all the snakebit curse following us around it would be a new low to have the Saudis overturn a 9 GD....
