Oman knocked over Japan in Japan on MD1 so we certainly can't be taking them lightly. If we play like we did against Vietnam they will beat us.

If we can rack up 4 points from these games, we'll be in a solid position. No easy games, and Oman in the middle east won't be a walk in the park.

It's a huge match week for Japan, away to Saudi Arabia then home to us. A bad week could have them on the verge of exit.

Nice start through Mobil, pretty open game.

The 8 for Oman is a player.

Japan on the brink of losing to the Saudis, will make next week huge for them. And Vietnam come from 2 goals down to Nick a point against China.

Yeah good win in the end. 11 in a row is a fair achievement, given no home games in that. Boyle very good.

Japan game is massive now, even a point keeps us 6 clear of them. A win and they are in massive strife. If we lose on the other hand group will be wide open.

These are great results. Can't wait to watch against Japan at a good TV time for us. Game will be another great test of where we are.even a draw would be a fine result though.

Spot on. Great start to the campaign, even better with Japan losing twice, plus the other teams in the group taking points off each other creating a big gap of 6 points from the top 2 with the rest.

Japan away next week, followed by Saudi at home, China away in November. Let's keep rolling!

so many crap turnovers....

Rogic is a turnover merchant these days.
I reckon he always has been. He hasn't played many good games for the Socceroos in a long time.

I thought Arnolds changes in the 2nd half were good. Got Rogic off as he kept turning the ball over, got Grant off when he was clearly struggling to contain the run in behind his flank (probably his first poor game for Australia). You could hear him screaming at Hrustic to change tactics at the 80th minute mark from pressing to getting back into defensive shape early. Got Jeggo on for Irvine to do just that.

Although I'd love to have some genuine home games in AU, playing a lot in the Middle East has to be an advantage for us for the actual World Cup getting experience in the conditions.

If we can get a draw against Japan we're almost qualified.

Can't we play November games in Brisbane or Adelaide?

Brisbane and Adelaide are barely letting people in from other states let alone overseas. NSW is the only state at the moment even negotiating with the FFA to let them fly in and stay in a bubble but not have to do 14 days quarantine.

I reckon playing in Qatar is even helping us in terms of the surface. Some of the multi purpose grounds in Australia can hurt our playing style.

Hrustic is looking a regular for a long time to come. Be interesting to see what changes he makes for Tuesday - I would play Karacic over Grant, but not sure Mooy will start?
