Must be pretty soul crushing seeing really, really good shots just roll off the green every damn time. It’s taking away the advantage the really good players have.

Yet the top 5 are all guns and highly ranked

No issues with Phil, love him, but I think he got it wrong and should have been DQ'd. At best it isn't in the spirit of the game and at worst it is cheating. It is a fine line but I think he crossed it. Not his intention no doubt.

Except Fineu and Berger both tees off early and got a round where the greens still had some moisture and the guys that tees off later were playing on concrete. It’ll be an interesting final day though, that’s for sure.

Sugar coat all you like, it's cheating when you deliberately break the rules. Weak as piss not to DQ him, no way what Phil did is in the spirit of the game of golf.

His only intent was to stop the ball rolling of the green, wether he stops it dead, or plays a shot on it the result is exactly the same, he may have had a bigger score on the hole because of it. Dead set cheating IMO.

Yup. Imagine if there was a drop off into water and he hit it to stop it going into the water - would be a different story to those saying it wasn't cheating. Yet it is exactly the same thing.

Should have been disqualified, but I take it another direction as well.

What he did was horrendous in setting an example for junior golfers. Trust me, those boys and girls soak in EVERYTHING the pros do--whether they like the player or not

Basically, he made my job as a parent trying to teach a boy to keep his composure when he hits a bad shot or gets a bad break, that much harder.

Piss poor is an understatement

I’m pretty certain that they deliberately made the course too tough yesterday to bring DJ back to the pack. How much money will the bookies make if DJ doesn’t win?

Interesting theory. Might be right about wanting to bring him back to the field

38 putts though, that isn't going to win you much, he wasn't much better today on a so called easier day.

I think he cost himself, not the course.

I get some of the criticisms but for one week out of the year seeing players shoot +1 to win a tournament is refreshing.

Normal services can resume next week when the courses are indistinguishable and half the field is shooting -15
