Really struggling to understand the point of this year's event? Just seems like a complete hotch botch of good players and has beens.

What is the purpose of Monfils playing Johannson? Surely its not the best lead up to be playing a player who is long past their best?

The other thing I can't comprehend is how he is taking it up to Monfils, who is considered top 10 and a 'chance' for the Aus Open.

An odd tournament...

I watched a bit last night it was quite fun to watch. Henri Leconte is still a showman of the highest order.

Watched a bit last night at the casino parallel to the Man U vs Derby game. Interesting enough, but you cant tell me that you would prefer that shit compared to the old Adelaide Internation Hardcourt or whatever it was that used to be played.

Leconte is good for a laugh, and the Cash vs Courier game was also decent to watch.

Agree though, not sure what Monfils is doing here, I can understand a Hopman Cup but why this?

Monfils is in Adelaide as Roger Rasheed is his coach and he is also one of the Tournament Directors.

I can't really get into the event but the reason they have it is so that Adleaide has some kind of internationial tennis event. I'd much rather have the Hardcourt Championships but they are gone now. They have tried to tie this event in with a number of other local tournaments during the day. Ticket sales have been suprisingly good as I expected it to fail.

The Government and Tennis SA let the Hardcourt Championships go far to easily. They actually at one stage had an option of bringing the womens event down from Brisbane and combining it with the mens event here but they just didn't get behind it enough and the rest is history.

No exhibition events are that interesting. The Hopman Cup is boaring as is the Kooyong event and now we have this one. They do have a number of big names behind it and ticket sales have been good but it will be interesting to see what will happen over the next few years. I love my tennis but I can't watch it.

How could they compete with Brisbane's brand new $85 million purpose built tennis center? Thats why Adelaide lost it. The government and Tennis SA did all they could.

They had there chance about three years ago. when the Ladies event was struggling. Beleive me they didn't really care too much that they lost the Hardcourt Champoinships.

This is Adelaide after all.

Keeping a national event by spending money on up grading facilities, isn't a high priority.

Did the Scud injure himself or something?

Laconte and Bahrami are great value, but you can't help but thinking Team USA don't have a sense of humour between them (particularly Dent).

disagree - lst night I went and they were great - jim partically :D and I enjoyed the doubles. Laconte vs Cash was a royal blast as was when Jim and Bahrami played

Scud was injured I believe and the Aussie kid was asked to play 3 hrs before - he only had his training gear on and had to borrow someones raquet - not bad effort

of course - they only want events that they dont have to put a brass razoo and still get the credit for it
Most of these games ought to be on the Comedy Channel

its not suppose to be a serious tournament - its suppose to be entertainment
