This was an interesting idea I heard about the WTC format a few days back. What are your thoughts..
This is the best idea so far for a World Test Championship!

They'd have to move it to a different season too if you want it played at the MCG as there's absolutely no chance the AFL give it up in June.Given the new covid strain situation in England, would the kiwis be willing to travel to London to play the WTC final? Provided we make the final, as an Indian fan, I hope the WTC final gets moved to Australia and they play the final at the MCG.
If we make the final, we will most probably get rolled over on a green seamer by the kiwis in England but think we should start favourites on any venue in Australia.

And cricket in June in Melbourne sounds like an absolute bollocks for players and spectators alikeThey'd have to move it to a different season too if you want it played at the MCG as there's absolutely no chance the AFL give it up in June.
I thought that first fielding session in August at pre-season was bad. Imagine catching a cricket ball in Melbourne in June. And cricket in June in Melbourne sounds like an absolute bollocks for players and spectators alike

We miss out on the final due to points docked for a slow over rate in Melbourne. Not only did Paine completely screw the last 2 Tests with his captaincy he managed to stuff up and appearance in the WTC Final because we bowled our overs too slow.
Surely India dish up absolute bunsens considering the permutations they need. Also wouldn't put it past England to just roll over if they are 2-0 down and keep Australia out. Not necessarily deliberately, but they do have a history (5-0 twice here) of the arse falling out on a tough tour.
Starts Friday. It is on Fox (well it's on Kayo so I assume it's on Fox too). When does the Eng-India series start?
Is it on Fox? If I can get back to an unburned house that is.

partly yes.
should never have lost the test in england where stokes went nuts
should never have lost at the GABBA to brisbane
shouldve beaten india in sydney
the whole thing is a farce to determine this on the back of 4 series.
how does a team make it when they havent beaten us in a series for 30 odd years.
end of the day we did only play 1 away series and drew that.
results fall our way and we may scrape in - doesn't change my views that the whole thing was already a mess and covid added to the mess.
Even if the format sucks, if it finally gets people to take the over rate issue seriously will have been WORTH IT
That's like saying how does an AFL team win a premiership when they haven't beaten one particular other club for a decade.
The whole point of a non-defence/retention system in sport is that you don't have to 'beat the champ' to win.
Australia right now is a very average test team. Imagine hypothetically that NZ had beaten India in India, England in England, and SA in SA.
Now would you really turn around and try to repeal their status as the best team in the world because "hang on we just discovered that NZ hasn't beaten the 4-5th best team in the world for 30 years."?
Having a team you lose to all the time doesn't preclude you from being the best any more than losing almost every time he played Rafael Nadal for about 5-6 years would have precluded Federer from being the #1 tennis player from 05-10 or whatever arbitrary period you want to nominate.
Faf was suspended for at least 1 test for slow over rates.i think Jason Holder has missed two Tests because of it but no one else seems to have been noticeably punished until now
30 years is a little different to a decade.
you can't compare afl to the wtc. during the afl cycle 'premiership season, everyone plays everyone.
the wtc doesn't allow everyone to play everyone during the championship cycle.
in any case i doubt an afl has won the flag but eluded to beat a team for 10 years.
not sure you can say the aussie team are average at the moment. sure the last 2 tests weren't great, but we were ranked #1 prior to that test series.
you could throw a blanket of 3-4 teams at the moment for the best test team - but average is harsh. even if australia are 4th best, thats still not 'average' - it's more a case of - not as per australia's lofty and high expectations.
