Really a strange case. Didn't like Pav stepping down anyway, prefer captains to stay captain especially club greats like Pav.
Mundy then had like a shocker of a year. Has shown a lot of leadership since and didn't look bad when captaining in Fyfe's absense. Probably was overawed by the spotlight being the offical no.1.

That was peak level nuff from Walker.
Surprised that the AFL allow single captains anymore. Not very inclusive for the rest of the team and certainly not representative of the broader community. AFL must do better and mandate each side must have at least 5 captains to cover off on all the victim seeking minority muppets.

I get the perception of Tex that people outside the club would hold. He has had his share of controversy. I just think he is a guy with a huge amount of passion but really poor at expressing himself. In a modern landscape with media and fans that don't give second chances that doesn't bode well.
Blasted for his minimal speech after the losing GF, I saw a bloke absolutely shattered and just not skilled with a mic.
To be incredibly clear I leave the racism stuff to one side - there is no excuse there. There is no justification for it, whether you are articulate or not.
But the other stuff like calling out Lever for leaving and the like is what I'm talking about.
It's stuff that has happened at footy clubs for decades.
There would be plenty of people who have 'transgressed' like Tex but haven't been as silly as Tex in being so open with it.
Ultimately Tex is the kind of leader people would follow, he is capable of putting a few blokes on his shoulders and saying come with me.
You can't win the captain's vote two years as a fluke.
He would have really flourished with Walsh who was more his type of operator. Pyke was just too white collar.
Anyway, my vote for this would be Rory Sloane. Has shown himself incapable of putting himself where he needed to be for the good of the team (not in the midfield) and then once injured he didn't resign the captaincy. That's a bloke who may well want the best for the club but thinks he is the conduit for it. Poor leadership.
Tex is deficient at diplomacy which has made him an easy target - his serve at Lever should be seen in the light with the fact Walker re-negotiated his contract to take a pay cut to keep that 17 squad together, which is why Lever then leaving pissed him off

West Coast appointed Worsfold - not their best player, but certainly the best leader. We appointed the guy who took half a career to turn up to Monday night training.
Austin McCrabb, he'd been with the club for 18 months...
While that’s true, Lever didn’t ask Tex to make that sacrifice.
