Worst AFL cheers

The best things in our cheer squad are the club song and the ROOS ROOS ROOS ROOS after a goal (sometime changed to DREW DREW DREW DREW).

"Let's go Kangas let's go" is tragic, no two ways about it. The front row of the squad who kick it off are all teenagers so I guess that explains that - it's just a bit hard for us oldies to join in with enthusiasm. I usually do the clapping part and pretend the rest isn't happening.

North Melbourne clap clap clap is fine by me, just not all the time. Having said that, these days anything that says North Melbourne rather than Kangaroos is to be encouraged ("kangas" not even worth discussing).

We used to do a nice line in spelling the club's name before startiung the Noreth Melbourne clap clap clap which provided some variety but was probably a little challenging.

Slow chants and songs are the best for atmosphere.

I must say North Melbournes cheersquad is easily the loudest i've heard of any teams, and I thought Geelongs cheersquad were loud.

It would be good if the people around the cheersquads joined in more, it would also be good to see most of the bays behind the goals filled with more banners, flags and colour, the Cheersquads seem isolated in the middle there........besides Richmonds at the MCG, just brilliant, the whole Punt Rd end is Yellow and black for their home games.

Does Melbourne have a rebel Cheer Squad as well with floggers?

Yes they do. Well, they definitely did against Port when I was there earlier in the year.

The old floggers & flags were on the wing, where the Demons Cheer Squad used to sit. The floggers were the older shade of blue, more royal than navy as well.

The official lot sit behind the goals & wave flags with "Redheads" logos on them. They looked like Swans supporters when we played them last. Paralowie Power quipped to me that they'd actually look half decent if they were all together.

Like the Bulldogs they bloody persist with two clap chants instead of three. "Bulldogs CLAP CLAP" sounds so naff it defies words. :thumbsd:

Why are people constantly changing established footy cultural things all the time? The thre clap chant is based on a Brazilian samba rhythm; they started it during the 1966 Football world cup.

The Bulldogs not clapping properly after chants (which means they are out of synch with everyone chanting "Bulldogs !!!"). Cheer Squads now being called "Supporters Groups" because the term "Cheer Squad" has negative connotations.
