While I voted for the second worst supporter group in my opinion, I think there is one you left off that are the worst by far.

Wetsern supporters.

I don't know whether it is the low-class, moronic area they originated from, or if they take after the unfunny and stupid Western players like Doug Hawkins and Ted Whitten...

But every time they ever win a match (and unfortunately against Collingwood it is too often...) they turn around and try and get their ugly face into yours and snarl and act like they are the greatest thing to mankind.

Even some western supporters (and their families) that sit in the Western members agree they are the worst supporter group in the league.

Richmond comesa a close second, but Western is definitely on top.

Matt

PS - Add Port Power fans to that too actually.

Did you see that moron Pies supporter behind the goals in the Millennium Match? There's your answer.

And I bet he went home long before the half time siren.

Western bulldogs fans when they lose to Carlton are very bad, Collingwood fans full stop and West Coast fans when they lose they blame the umpires.

Collingwood supporters by a mile!

It's disgraceful that players the calibre of the Coleman Medallist have VB cans thrown at them! (Only half full too!) They act like animals, then complain about having Victoria Park closed.....

And what about all those Sydney
'celebrities' who suddenly appear at home finals and other high-exposure games? Although, I guess they're not really fans......

Eagles fans aren't that bad...... Well not all of them, anyway.

Kate.

hey mtffafl,

Don't say Eagles fans behave badly, pies supporters are WAY worse. The reason they behave badly is because their team is so bad that they try other ways, eg. throwing beer cans at eagles players, to win matches. I say pie supporters should have a look at themselves and stop acting like morons.

I have lived in Melbourne and in Brisbane.I think the Bulldogs fans are pathetic.I have been to many a match at Western Oval, and their behaviour is disgusting. Also North Melbourne fans appear to lose the plot at Lions matches. I have seen them throwing beer at children, abusing women and very young children because they are in Lions gear. At games in Brisbane, the worst supporters have been Essendon ones.

Definitely Collingwood fans ..... even up here they come to the Gabba adn carry like they own it ... sorry people but not your venue..... I wil not forget they way they carried on b4 start of last game against us .... all these magpie fans say they were going to throw thrash us yadda yadda......... obviously at that stage they weren't reading form to well Bris 6-1 pies 0-7 ...... i think they had slightly unreal expectations or are completely bats. Its one thing to be biased its another thing to be completely ridiculous.

I should include some North fans too not even gracious in winning for all the abuse the Lions players copped after a gallant effort against a North side who resorted to thuggery to beat us.

Port Power supporters - because they go on about their aparent "history and tradition" getting them through when they win, and when they lose they say that they are only a new team. Lets see what powermad says about this one!!

Can't help but agree that it's Collingwood fans. Damn, they are *ugly* in every sense of the word!

For me, one of the highlights of the 1999 season was Brisbane full-back Justin Leppitsch giving it to the Collingwood cheersquad at Victoria Park.

"Coll-ing-wood! (clap clap clap) Coll-ing-wood!!

Scoreboard, maggies!! :) Bwahahahaha! :)

Enjoy that wooden spoon, Eddie. You'll probably have another to go with it come September! :)

In my view Adelaide Crows supproters are way up there for the most hated title. 40,000 v's a cupla hundred, and they still need to vandalise cars..

You reckon Collingwood supporters are the worst. Well, do you think we really give a shit?

You can follow your pathetic little football clubs. None of you would even know what a real football club is. Port Adelaide and Richmond supporters might.

None have you probably even had the guts to go to Victoria Park. Just sit at home and pass judgement. Us? Well we'd bloody well travel anywhere.

You poor little buggers. I'd suggest you stay at home next time you play Collingwood. You might feel the full force of the Magpie Army. We wouldn't want you to get hurt or have to listen to some form of foul language.

What a sad, pathetic bunch of losers.

If you think footy is about subjecting other people to abuse and physical harm then get out on the field and leave the stands for the supporters.

You are an idiot. A total idiot. Get treatment for this monomania and leave REAL supporters alone.

I was being a tad sarcastic DEEN.

The way you lot carry on makes me think that you have in some way been harmed at the hands of Collingwood supporters.

One bloke throws two cans of beer on the field and all of a sudden Vic Park becomes the animal house. It used to happen every other week at the suburban grounds. You pass judgement from your lounge rooms.

OK, some Collingwood supporters do get a bit out of hand. So what? They just love the club. Nothing really becomes of it. Victoria Park was a great place to go and watch your team. For those who don't follow Collingwood it's sad that you will never know what that feels like.

Well...yes actually. You obviously cared enough to post a response! :)

OOHHH...how terrifying! The "full force" of the Magpie Army! What are you going to do? Spank us with your wooden spoon?? Throw your putrid moccasins at us? Or perhaps spit at us through your false teeth?? :)

Probably what Jock McHale would say about the current Magpie line-up. Chris Tarrant had the right idea...

While Essendon are not the worst behaved supporters (I'm an Essendon suppoter myself), there is NOTHING like the Essendon army to get a crowd pumping. The crowd has got us over the line in so may games, i have lost count.

While there might have been some debate as to which club had the most supporters earlier this decade, there is now NO DOUBT.

Essendon is the most popular club, and rightly so. Averaging nearly 60,000 per gmae over 22 matched is something that Collingwood has never done or will ever do. The Bombers have about 1.2 million supporters Australia wide, something which stunned Collingwood who always beleived they had the most. Victoria is becoming a sea of Red and Black

Essendon has 20 % of the Victorian support for those under 20 years of age, and about 16 % (i.e 1 in 6 ) overall.

The best way to judge,is to look at how Essendons crowds go against Collingwood when we play the same opponent and the circumstances are similar. It's unfair
to use 1999 as an example, becasue
they were on the bottom.

Take 1998. On a Fiday night, Collingwood play Sydney at the MCG. The Pies win loss record was 4-2. They were near the top of the ladder at the time. The Swans were pretty good too. They had a 5-1 win-loss record, I think. 57,000 turned up.

Now Essendon played the Swans a few weeks later. Nearly identical cirumstances. Friday night, agaisnt the same opposition (Swans). By memory Essendon were 6-5, I think, and we had put together 3 or 4 succesive wins.
Our win-loss ratio was WORSE than when Collingwood played the Swans (the were an impressive 4-2, as I mentioned above)

Anyway, 64,000 turned up to watch Essendon play the Swans. More than Collingwood (who remember were near the top at the time) got.

By the way, we won the match by 10 goals.

They think they are the most supported club, but the reality is........these days it is not even close. And the support gap is getting wider and wider. I think Essendon
is the club of the new millenium.

Approximately 50% of people barrack for the same team as their parents. While Collingwood will retain that 50%, they are losing the rest. If you're a kid growing up, you don't want to barrack for a team that is on the bottom.

When Essendon play Freo in Round 3, we will have more suppoters in Perth than they will !

You won't have an average of 60,000 again. Your new stadium only holds 52,000. About 38,000 of those for the public.

It's good to see the club of the "new millennium" thinks about it's supporters.
