IMO Teddy Fidge was a very handy player in the forward pocket/hff...
Was as hard at it as anyone always put his body on the line and could kick the ball a fair way....

I cant really remember Figey as a player, but he was my first ever senior coach and I can tell you he was built like Arnold Swartznegger. I have seen some big ripped up guys but in all honosty he would be up there with the biggest. I saw first handed give a couple of guys an absolute flogging aswell So I can only imagine him being a hard as bricks mo fo to play against

Fairest way to split the slops would be cut it into a few categories. And then your pound for pound worst player ever.

I suggest the categories;

100+ games
50-99 games
25-49 games
1-24 games

Cbf doing mine yet.

I was thinking who does everyone believe or worst regular senior player over the years is??? It would have to be a player that managed to get close to 50 games to be considered.

For me its got to be big Al Nicholson or though a strong case could be put forward for Simon Godfrey:thumbsu:

You realise how many players who played LESS than 50 games at Melbourne ?

You have any idea how good you need to be at this game at this level ?

Go check on players who played 1 or maybe 2 games for the club then put them against who you picked

They had a go , they didn't make it , so what, move on

Celebrate the players that did

Its a no win situation making negative posts like this

If you stated the players who didn't live up to your expectation then that's a totally different question

Did you know the very best sports administrator in the country played just 4 games for Melbourne in 1977 after playing 40 odd games for the Hawthorn reserves

Brian Cook (CEO Geelong FC) to save you having to ask

Ever heard of Jim Cardwell ?

He didnt play a senior game but at that time there would be many multi season players from other teams that wouldn't of either

Does that make him the worst MFC player ever ?

But i doubt you would know of his contribution to the club would you

Dont peddle this 50 games criteria or some fool will suggest 200 games

Pathetic Post Title

Relax fun copper.

For those nominating Big Al Nicholson - yes he is one of the worst 100 game players in the history of the comp but he was light years ahead of Damien Gaspar. Gaspar takes the cake for mine. When he was taking kick-outs in 96-97 we may as well have just handed the opposition a free kick 50 metres out on a 45 degree angle.

My memory only goes back to 1987 but we have had some shockers in that time. Every time I saw Heffernan's name on the team sheet it was enough to make me groan.

anyone who thinks al was a dud clearly didnt watch a lot of games. He wasnt horrible. He wasnt fantastic but he didnt have a lot of support. He got games ahead of chris lamb remember

I totally agree, everyone who has played firsts footy is an elite player who would be a star at lower levels, barring injuries... Even reaching the level of playing for the 2's is an achievement...

has anyone nominated Andy Moir?

or Ross Funcke (I still can't believe you picked him up from Richmond0

Marcus Seecamp wasn't much either

Didn't hurt that Daniher hated Lamb

is that a rumour or fact. A lot of times when someone doesnt get a game apparently the coach hates him

Hahaha... fantastic work.

Everyone's a bit harsh on Big Al though. I named myself after Big Al Nicko's beard! He possessed a number of admirable qualities. He was fashionable, he was smart and team orientated. A wonderful player.

Kelvin Templeton? Shit for us.

Also, I'm showing my age but I can't believe no one has mentioned Alan Jarrot!

More from the 80's please. I'm sick of all the modern ones that have been done a million times.

Was it Peter Johnston who couldn't kick straight to save himself and would often miss goals that even Ben Holland would kick with his eyes closed?

How about Greg Sizer? http://wiki.fcmelbourne.com.au/Greg+sizer You don't end up playing one game in #57 because you're good. Anyone know his story?
