Zantuck wasn't a trade. We picked him up in the PSD.

Cupido was part of a deal that also got us McPhee and a first round draft pick.

IN - Cupido, McPhee, Pick 17.
OUT - Caracella, Pick 55.

That was a pretty damn good deal.

Um we got ZantUck from free... And Cupido came as part of the Headland deal which also gave us McPhee who is one of our best players and IMO future captain (if he ever decides he actually wants the thing).

Cupido did great at the start too.. Just his attitude let him down in the end. I cant remember the exact deal but he has certainly done more than Blumfield did at Richmond or Heff did at Melbourne (who is now back with us anyways). Cara has done pretty well tho but i would still rather McPhee to him.

Lehmann got chronic fatigue - hardly fair on the fella he was a good player

I still remember that winning point he kicked when his boot came off and went further than the kick :D

We gave up Moloney who hasn't exactly set the world on fire through the latter half of last year and the first half of this year, plus picks 12 and 16, which were used to get Danny Meyer and Adam Pattison, Meyer was good last week, Pattison has potential but not starring in anyone's imagination. We will only win out if we win a flag and at this point that looks unlikely this year!
No, you gave up Brent Moloney to receive pick #12 from Melbourne, and then traded that along with your own pick #16. So it was just Moloney and pick #16 for Ottens - Not a good trade, but it's not like you'd be much better if you'd kept the picks.

Probably should have made a run at Nathan Thompson instead of Brad Ottens though - Thompson was traded for less.

Correct me if I am wrong (as I am sure most will), but didn't we (collingwood) try and draft/trade for Gerald Healy after he announced his retirement?

Secondly didn't we continue to hold onto Walker after he succumbed to his 43rd knee re-construction?

As overrated as Mark Williams?

You'd kill to add Stevens pace and run to midfield that has slow players like Hodge, Mitchell and Lewis who you dropped this year.
Mark Williams isnt overrated.

Plus I'm sure he isnt paid 500K+ a year.

It was part of the Headland deal.

Pick 55 went Fremantle's way, from Essendon.
They used that pick to draft Ryan Crowley, who they later delisted and then rookied, from memory.

Pretty certain the Bucks deal was for Pick 12 which ended up being Chris Scott.

This one always comes to mind as I think it was a straight player for player swap only, doesn't happen very often.

Fantastic player Mal Michael, he doesn't get injured very often, how many games has he played.
Actually, as a part of the bigger picture, it was involved in the absolutely enormous series of trades that saw Paul Williams go to Sydney, Peter Bell to Fremantle, and James Clement and Brodie Holland to Collingwood.

People always ask questions about the deal, and I was able to finally group it to the following situation overall.

Collingwood trade: Paul Williams, Mal Michael, Ricky Olarenshaw
Collingwood receive: James Clement, Brodie Holland, Jarrod Molloy, Carl Steinfort, Pick #37 (Guy Richards)

Sydney trade: Pick #8 (Daniel Motlop), Pick #39 (Adam McPhee)
Sydney receive: Paul Williams, Pick #52 (Amon Buchanan)

Kangaroos trade: Peter Bell
Kangaroos receive: Jess Sinclair, Pick #6 (Dylan Smith), Pick #8 (Daniel Motlop), Ricky Olarenshaw

Fremantle trade: Jess Sinclair, James Clement, Brodie Holland, Pick #6 (Dylan Smith), Pick #22 (Richard Hadley), Pick #37 (Guy Richards), Pick #52 (Amon Buchanan)
Fremantle receive: Peter Bell, Pick #39 (Adam McPhee)

Brisbane trade: Jarrod Molloy, Pick #44 (Josh Hunt)
Brisbane receive: Mal Michael, Pick #22 (Richard Hadley)

Geelong trade: Carl Steinfort
Geelong receive: Pick #44 (Josh Hunt)

In that bunch, there are Best and Fairest winners in Peter Bell (4 - 3 at Freo), James Clement (2), Paul Williams (2), Adam McPhee (1 - Although not to the club that received him in THIS trade) as well as Premiership medallists in Williams, Amon Buchanan, Mal Michael and Richard Hadley.

It really is one of the most remarkable series' of trades in AFL history.

Barry Brooks for Picks 8 & 35 in 2002.

My comments on the Port board at the time:

evertonfc said:
No offence to Barry Brooks, but I'm devastated that the club has let go of picks 8 and 35 in favour of a player who has done nothing yet despite having a year on the list.

Of course any player in the draft would have done 'nothing' at senior level, but Brooks doesn't impress me any more than the likes of Johnson, McIntosh and Layco*k.

Port now get a crack at perhaps one of these boys, and possibly local lad Byron Schammer or the kid who I wanted with #8, McVeigh. Plus they also get 35 - I know its said to be a bad draft, but there's always a few gems amongst the pack.

I think Port will win this deal in a canter. Brooks may be a talented player, but I've heard he gets easily intimidated and needs to work on his physical presence - these are things ruckman should have as second nature.

Those of you who are complaining, I really think you've stitched us up big time.

Seriously? Freo lost three mid-list (at the time) players and four draft picks for Bell & a mid-range pick?

Yeah I knew we traded for the 12th pick but in reality we gave up Moloney, plus those picks we could have kept 12 and 16 but didnt or Moloney and 16 but I get ur point and I agree Thompson would hav ebeen a better buy however I think there were questions with the whole depression thing but he has proven people wrong.

I'm with you on that one. It must be a Swans thing way back for bad trades. Wasn't it Neville Fields or Neville Roberts from Essendon for Neale & Terry Daniher.

To be fair to Freo, Chris Groom looked like being a gun. He went to Freo and did his knee, got traded to the Kangaroos and did his knee again, then retired. Unlucky.

I was always disappointed with Brenton Sanderson for Brett Chalmers.
