One of recent memory perpetrated by the Bears....a certain N.Buckley for C.Starcevich.

Hilarious. I would hope that the club officials and agents involved had Dencorub applied to the sensitive areas.

I'll have any old Roy in my house ;)

C'mon Cam, your forgetting the Lions got Troy Lehmann as well. haha

How bout for both teams, Ian Downsborough went to the crows, and charlmers went to port. Pathetic trade, both players got delisted within 2 seasons......

to my memory, Buckley was going anyway. Nobody was in any doubt that he was a great player, but there was no way Brisbane could hang on to him. so I don't know that it qualifies aa a bad trade as such.

Has to be carey/longmire for 75,000 though would it not ? swans would have had the flag in 1996 with carey.

But they wouldn't have had an opponent!

"Thanks for fixing my chair, George!"

Ian Stewart, Brownlow Medal for Tiges
Bill Barrott, 2(?) games for Saints

There's a few more in our history I'm not too keen on thinking about either.

I've got a soft spot for Aaron Lord for Tim Hargreaves, if only for the fact that some other club wanted the great Hawthorn number 22.

Say what you like about our Aaron (I know I do), but he's good for 40 goals when fit. As for Hargie, any details on his current whereabouts would be greatly appreciated.

For us blueboys:

Best: Greg Williams for Simon Minton Connell
(we also lost Andrew Cavedon to Fitzroy in a complicated deal - and he was of far less use than Minton Connell!)

Worst: Just recently - Justin Murphy for no. 11 draft pick. Stupid Stupid Stupid. I hope Sporn (I think that's his name) proves me wrong and becomes a champion though.

Yeah, you're right RogerC. Buckley wanted to leave the Bears to play in the finals (at the end of 1994, i think, but don't quote me on that).

Great choice Apricot Jam.

Here, I've got another good one.

CALTHORPE for ANYONE. I don't know what the lions were thinking a couple of seasons ago, or what the Kangaroos were thinking since.

You need to get the full story to understand that properly. Collingwood i remember drafted Buckley, but because Buckley sort of rigged the draft (wrote letters to bottom clubs saying he would not play if drafted) the AFL sent him to brisbane for a year, then to join collingwood after 1993. Same thing with Chalmers, he got drafted by collingwood but got told he had to go to the crows

Until the other night I've been spewing over Collingwood's trade of Clinton King for McKee at the end of 1999.

But I thought McKee played well the other night and it has been revealed that he was actually suffering from a fairly serious illness last year. So he might not turn out to be the dud we all think he is after all.

Here's hoping, anyway.

Fremantle's delisting of Peter Bell at the end of 95... two premierships later... Fremantle trade Jess Sinclair and draft picks 6 8 and 39... to Kangaroos... for something they already had...

Almost equal to Longmire/Carey Deal....

Best trade.

Mick Malthouse seen at a local pub at end of last season with 26 gold watches on the bar.

'Wot's them for Mick?'

'I got them for me best 26 players'

'Bloody good trade that mate'

Freo must have about 15 of the worst trades in the history of the game. Has anyone seen the team they could have had if they picked the right players??

Mullet, you beat me to it. Are you the President of the "I love John Blakey" fan club??

Melbourne got Craig Turley from the Eagles. What a waste. Another was Scott Chisolm. Thank God he has gone now.

Danny, Tim Hargreaves was actually invited to the Blues pre-season training this year. They didnt pick him up though, damn.

Bubba, spot on re the Buckley draft pick, the (then) Bears picked up Scott, whos not quite the footballer that Bucks is, but still has been good for them.

Dud draft deals, Sharkey for Gibson. I challenge anyone to top that. Talk about lose/lose.

Yea that bloody Freo 3 way with the Dons. We got shafted, Lloyd was thhhiiisssss close to being signed. Still it could have been worse, he could have gone to Carlton!!
