Would it be worth picking up Steve Alessio in the draft with a later pick to throw down forward for a year or two? It could work in our favour as he can also be another backup ruckman and would also need a tall key defender on him each week which could also take the pressure off down there.

Craig Bolton is another worth looking at aswell, at 190cm and 22 years of age he could turn out as a good option for our defence? He was an emergency for this years Grand Final team, so he obviously can play it's just Brisbanes team is stacked with quality players with 100 games plus

Andrew Shipp is MABY another at 183cm tall he can also take a good grab and would be more suited to a forward line possie?

Any Thoughts or Other Options?

SHIPP = NO, We have plenty of 183cm players
Alessio = NO, 31 years of age, save the cash for potential out of contract problems at the end of next season i.e Brown, Murphy, Giansiracusa.
Bolton = YES, But we wouldn't be the only club interested.

Hewitt never lived up to his potential.
He is big but a bit slow with it.

Not sure that he is worth considering but we will need at least one experienced player

Laurence Angwin tickles my fancy.
20 years of age, selected at number 6 in the 2000 draft. He can play up forward aswell as in the ruck.

But just over 92.5% which was the target.
I think we could argue that we got as close as was practical.

Is there an argument to try for Bassett with pick #39 and Alessio (if we could get him cheaply) in the pre-season draft?

No problems about entering the pre-season draft but means we cannot go after an experienced player unless he wants to play at near a rookies wages

Delisted players are hardly in a position to demand big money, I would imagine players like Ses and Bolton would play for a fairly minimal wage.
I wouldn't mind getting Ses simply for back-up in case Luke or Bandy got injured. If Darcy got injured I don't like the idea of Bandy having to ruck all day or having to play Bruton, Skipper or Wiggo

I think that Bassett is our man but not with #39. I would rather take someone like Lucas McGhie with that pick and hope that we can get Bassett in the preseason draft.

I agree Bassett should be the target.Theres not alot of players going around worth getting but he would be worth using a late pick on.
