I have read crime and punishment. It's certainly quite dense and in my opinion isn't appropriate here.
If you don't like my opinion, that's a matter for you.
Count me in providing you don't do Gatsby...
It's only great because of who wrote it take off the name and it's dull.
You're certainly dense.

I'm more a Green Eggs and Ham man.Any love for

?
If I was to suggest that Three Men in a Boat would be good idea, how many people would have any real objection to it?
if you think by my saying that it's a dense book, that i'm in any way detracting from its quality then you are the one who is dense.
my point is that it's inappropriate here. to read it for the first time, take in the story and appreciate the quality of the writing would most people with commitments at least a few weeks, if not months (albeit we know you read it like a lee child novel).

The Groucho Marx option! Brilliant! The reason i'm positive that you are a very dumb person is because you keep saying that C&P isn't appropriate to read in this book club (where a paradigm doesn't exist because it hasn't even begun) and you keep saying this like I'm arguing that it should be the first book read in this club book when i have not said that. All i've done is defended it against claims that i would call stupid. That doesn't automatically mean that i think everyone should read it in this book club. I would never, ever push a book onto people to read, ever.
Now, I DO NOT ******* CARE WHAT BOOK IS CHOSEN FOR A BOOK CLUB THAT I DON'T WANT ANYTHING TO DO WITH NOW THAT I'VE EXPERIENCED THE LEVEL OF STUPIDITY I WOULD BE OBLIGED TO DEAL WITH.
I'm OUT!!!!
Right.... anyhow.... can someone explain how a book club works not having been in one before.

Nicky you are a bloody crazy. I love you.
The idea is for those who have read it to re-read it. Anyway, I'm happy with Three Men in a Boat. Haven't read it before so always keen for something new. Might take me a while to order it though. Can you believe in a town of 60,000 we don't have one bookshop? How about picking a book that hasn't been read by other members of book club?
If you're doing that it's more about some people reading and others just having a discussion. I don't like that idea.

As a bookseller who has watched his industry being carved up by the internet I can more than believe it. As it happens I have to go and buy a copy tomorrow, if you want I can buy one for you too and send it on.The idea is for those who have read it to re-read it.
