If Carlton told him that we would be picking up Cousins in the PSD? Would he be willing to accept the clubs decision and give Cousins one more chance or tell the club not too take him since he wanted to escape players with this sort of culture?

He would accept it, because he is well aware its not his decision to make. But I would expect, if the drug/attitude problems at West Coast were a factor in him leaving, that he would be pretty disappointed.

Still, we dont know what his relationship with Cousins was like- innuendo isn't good enough- it may have been very good, though I doubt it. Either way, given our history with Angwin and Norman and our young team I cant see us picking him up.

..let's do it....Cuz would give Carlton some depth, just in case we get
injuries to key players. If CFC took him he would have to accept a contract
that would be so strict re: drugs, he wouldn't dare screw up. Carlton really have nothing to lose, the rest of the comp hate us anyway....f**k respect give me flags and bragging rights.

LONG LIVE THE MIGHTY BLUEBAGGERS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!:D

1) Its a sad day in football when you have to 'ask' a gun player wether he will accept another player from a different club.....imo he shouldnt have a choice, no person is bigger than the club

2) The drug/attitude probs at the wce as you call it are mainly because of cousins. Not the other way around.

3) If he played with you he would have to accept a contract stating no drugs etc? And you dont think this has already been tried before?

4) **** respect if it gives you flags? What good is a flag when noone respects the way you earn it?

5) Cuz giving you depth? Cuz is not a depth player. He would be in your centre square without batting an eyelid.

oh yes, he wont listen to a premiership contending teams contractual agreements but he will for a cellar dweller. Not having a dig but geez mate, think about it.

Spot on.

Mate not having a dig but c'mon the problems the Hawkes have with drugs are far worse than any other team in the history of the game.

and that a fact.

And this got onto my team how?? Pretty sure this topic is about Cousins going to CARLTON, not Hawthorn.

Thanks anyway.

Mate you want to come in here and strut like your mob has done somthing great. The hawkes fans on this site make me sick you would think ya's won the falg with all the bragging and carp you guys go around sprouting. The fact is next year will be a big thud for you guys if the AFL want the drugs in the spoty fixed.

You just cannot stay on topic can you??? Why the hell is this about Hawthorn and its fans????

I simply pointed out a flaw in the statement dukester95 made and you come back with "The fact is next year will be a big thud for you guys if the AFL want the drugs in the spoty fixed."

BTW, what is spoty?

Anyway, enough about Hawthorn, back on topic please.

What if the Hawks drafted Cousins? I can just imagine the Hawks board room table looking like a scene from Scarface with Buddy and Cousy fighting over who has a crack (no pun intended) at the first line they chop up and snort together.......preseason of course!:D

Lets for a minute suppose that one of the major driving forces for Judd leaving West Coast was his relationship with Cousins, Chick etc. I do not think that is an unreasonable assumption, given his unwillingness to talk to a certain Victorian club that had suspicions hanging over its head (but yes it is still just an assumption). If that above assumption were true and Judd made that clear to Carlton, he made clear that he wanted to get away from a drug taking culture and that he thought the likes of Ben Cousins were a major factor in that, then Carlton would be morally bound to not sign Cousins. If we took Judd on the basis that we have a clean, young exciting culture within the club and that we offered a club where that sort of behaviour would not be tolerated then we are going to get the best player in the competition offside by signing BC, hardly a good way to build a club.

More important than getting Judd offside though is the potential impact to the rest of the playing group. JR summed it up, he mentioned just how excited the young guys were to have Judd on their list. This is a list that is so young it needs to develop it's own culture and having Judd as the person the others are trying to emulate is going to be far more beneficial than having Cousins as the senior role model within the football club.,

Imagine if it is just one player he derails, but that player is Marc Murphy. Essentially we will have traded one or two seasons of Ben Cousins for the loss of Marc Murphy. It is paramount to Carlton to build a winning culture back within the club. They have many juniors who excelled and won football games on the list now and with the addition of Kruezer(or Cotchin etc) this is going to continue next year. Carlton need to win football games and the kids need to get a bit of the Chris Judd mentality and approach to life. He is clean living, he is a hard trainer and he has a massive commitment to winning the football (and football games). The CFC board has no reason to sign Ben Cousins (even if Judd was okay with it) and should be happy to see him go somewhere else if he was available at pick 2. Let the Tigers pay him, let the Tigers expose their impressionable youngsters to him and let the tigers reap the results.

Can everyone just refrain from mentioning Cousins and Carlton in the same breath. He will NEVER be a player for the Carlton Football Club.

I hope he never comes to carlton.
If you ran a business and were looking to hire someone, but you knew they had a drug problem. No matter how good they are you wouldn't take them.
anyway haven't Carlton already said no to Cousins

Hellllooo, the guy is in REHAB..he is trying to get his life together. His crime to date is what? The booze bus incident...please, happens to normal people every day. Got plastered outside of a casino (I think)..happens to normal folks. He's not a pusher or a hard cased druggie...just an athlete with a drug problem. Seriously it is no wonder that people affected by drugs have a hard time with all you do gooder w***ers sinking the boot in every chance they get. And don't give me that line about the club is bigger than individuals, the club wouldn't exist if it weren't for individuals. Have Carlton said no to Cousins...can't see that anywhere...
