Im not sure now that Kenna has gone would Blackwell make a good goal sneak crumming off Fevola and Whitnall or should Lappin be moved back to the forward line

Wouldnt really change Lappin after his all Australian year

I'm inclined to dissagree. Don't forget the Lappin shoul dhave been in the All Oz team in 2000. I think the goal sneak we're after will come from Lappin or Houlihan. Both are good kicks at goal and are pacy. I don't like them both playing down back.

im with you!

i mean he's be SUPERB down back ... BUT ... i believe that he would be more value up fwd.

he would kick 50 goals not get as many posessions but take the heat off fev and medium red ... he may pick up 10-15 touches opposed to 25 but kick 3-4 goals and set up a few ... this in my books is more value.

but in saying that he is one of the most courageous players down back ive seen ... for a skinny guy he puts his body on the line all the time ... if only we had 2 of him!!! :D

Luke Blackwell would have to be Daniel Wells (damn you Demetriou) to be a goal sneak soon. He's not Daniel Wells (back on your couch Dennis).

We can't take Lappin out of the backline. We need his skill and running through the lines. He sets up goals from defence, probably as many as he would set up in the forward line. At one stage Matthew was telling all who would listen that he was the best forward pocket in the competition. But he became a genuine star of the game when switched to half back.

Houla also has amazing skills but I can never figure out what to do with him.

has anyone heard much of him???
seems a bit light on, short and slow from all i've read...

That's right, from what you have read.

How about watching him play a few games for the Bullants and may be even the 1's before putting him in the "...short and slow" box.

In other words, give the kid a chance.

Remember that Cousins started his career as a forward pocket, with a litle bit of time in the midfield. Now, I know you might all hate Cousins, but he has turned out to be a pretty good player.

Blacky will go alright, he can find it and plenty of it too. Stick him in the gym, make him sleep on the bench press. :D

Have any vics here watched the boys train? From what i've heard of Blackwell he impresses at every opportunity and tries his guts out. Players like that usually go on to become a good player. It's early days, but i'm on the bandwagon.

sorry about my post in the other thread m8 i just get fired up over wiggo plunket debate :p

ne ways i saw him in the wafl prelim and he was BOG for a losing claremont side ... he played with men but seemed to adapt very well ... a lot of weagles and freo players in the match too!!

he isnt that quick, but he is able to find time with the ball, uses it very well, has excelent skills by hand and foot, id love him to make an impact in our midfield ... he is good at the clearances too for a little bloke.

bulk him up and get his fitness up who knows he could be a great find.

he's like a better version of plunket, one with skills  (sorry had to do it)
