Really? Apart from running out first, the coin toss and some extra media commitments and a big C next to their name the Captain really is just a figurehead. Most overrated thing in football.

They do lift the cup and are immortalised forever in that most famous of moments every year.

But that's just your interpretation of the question asked, and one of multiple other scenarios.

Yep.

It's not so much would you put yourself before the team if given the choice... obviously everyone would choose more success for their club.

It's more when it's all said and done, which do you think would give you the most satisfaction to look back on?

I'm not trying to compare say Michael Voss to the worst multiple premiership player ever. I said all else being equal.

Whilst not the perfect comparison (which isn't possible), the best example I can think of is: would you be prouder of your career if you were Tom Harley, or Martin Pike? Both good solid players without being superstars.

And yes, their personalties and clubs aside of course. Just an example.

Dick Reynolds has lost the most Grand Finals as Captain: 4, as well as a drawn one....His record as Captain in the most Grand Finals stands at:....Played: 9; Won: 4; Drew 1; Lost: 4.

Equal 2nd for most Grand FInals are Michael Tuck: P 5 W 4 L 1, & John Nichols P 5 W 3 L 2.

Syd Coventry is the only Captain in 4 or more Grand Finals, with a 100% winning record.....Voss has 3 from 4 appearances, Harry Collier & Percy Bentley 2 from 4.
