If we can get a pick any time before the mid 20s, I'd take it in an instant, otherwise he stays on for a season.

Gotta feeling that Tuck and for that matter King are realists. They will say where do i sign for a one year contract and then go to work on getting the next one year contract dude...At the end of the day a mans go to know his limitations and when he does he is better off. ;)
They would both sign the contract on the spot with a smile on their faces.

No need to offer him two years. That would be silly. One year contract.
What happens if you offer him two and he does a knee in season one? He's effectively finished and we still have pay him out.
I would be happy for him to stay on. One year contracts for him now though.
Fair enough, the point is i would keep him. And if his form warrants it i would keep him until he is ready to retire.

he was shopped around last and had zero interest. no club will give up any pick in a compromised draft this year.

It depends on what we get.

I love Tucky as a footballer. As good as his old man in the sense he never stops and gives his all.

If nothing pops up we should keep him. Has just a great attitude and good for leadership IMO!!

No trading Tuck. Absolutely not (especially if you compare Shane's career to his old man's). IMO, he has at least 3 good seasons left.
NO CHANCE I WOULD TRADE HIM. He is in career best form and will probably be able to play until he is like 33.

The players that struggle with age are ones that rely on pace. Players like Rob Harvey and Shane Tuck who are gut running clearance players can play for a while. Loving his form...he deserves 2 year contract!

in all fairness i love tucky but, what we need to be doing is bottoming out and reaping the full rewards of the draft. tucks done great job so far this year but i would trade him as i see him being worth something of value. In a way tuck is doing what mcmahon did to us last year against melbourne, robbed us of the pp, if our current form keeps up i see us doing the same which wont be good for the long run.. just to clear this up i love tucky and how he gives his all for us each and every game:) its just whats best for the team in the long run for us but i could see him playing that mcdonald roll as mentioned in ealier posts.

Surely Gold Coast won't trade for him when they can get him for nothing. The only other clubs that would trade for a 28yo are the top four teams and none of them need in and under players. Tuck will either goto GC for free,or he stays on 1 year deals.

If we want to get picks from GC, we need to offer something they would really want.

Has been tremendous this season. Should be kept on at the end of the year but it really depends on how many kids they want to take in the upcoming draft. I wouldn't keep a player on for 1/2 years if my blueprint dictated that we need to target x amount of players in this draft.

At the moment senior listed players that will go are:

McMahon, Thomson, Hislop - 3

Should go

Polo - 1

Were going but may be holding on

Tuck, White, King - 3

Retirements

Simmonds and perhaps Cuz

That's a total of 8/9 and by the time we upgrade Gourdis that leaves us with 7/9 picks in the ND and preseason draft. 6 would be minimum so Tucky should definately stay along with one of White/King. Polak btw is a mature age rookie so wont create a spot on the main list if delisted.

Depends on what happens with Cousins. Whilst very different players, IMO we need at least one mature body/experienced player in the midfield next year. If Cousins goes round again then I would be open to trading Tuck. If he doesn't then we need to keep him. Wouldn't mind keeping both to be honest.

if there is a gain for our club trade him plain & simple
mid 2nd rounder or upgrade our early 2nd round pick to 1 of gc late 1st round picks .................. we go for it.

mcmahon, hislop, thomson.tuck, cousins, king all will be gone in 2 years or earlier

moore, thursty, mguane, white, tambling, edwards, morton all tradeable for the correct price.

Would happily trade him for a 3rd round pick or better, this includes letting him go to the Gold Coast and get a pick from the AFL for him which will be probably be half decent given his number of games for the club and good B&F results.

No one can deny his improvement this year in particular the last 2-3 weeks.
As for trade , well I think it should depend alot on how his form holds up till seasons end and as others have alluded to, any player who has shown the ability to be border line, is over 27 and unlike Cousins and doesn't have elite leadership qualities, I think will be considered should a suitable trade come about.

12 months is a long time in football maybe someone would have a need this time round
got another dozen games to get through yet- but I love having Tucky, would be pissed off to lose him, ok his age is against him being traded, but - hey - everyones picks are significantly lower than usual, no point rebuilding clubs with young spuds - Tuck is good solid performer that gets the ball, anyone bar Geelong could use him on their list for the next couple of years.

Hope we keep him - reckon he will be top 5 B&F not bad for a guy that gets lambasted as bad as he does

Every other club had their chance last year and missed it. I would keep him now on a year by year contract basis. Others that could be traded at years end for draft picks only would be Tambling, Mcguane/Rance, King, White, Hislop, Polo, Thomson, Morton, others???
