It knows that it's club (Newport) is utterly ****ed for the thuggish behaviour of their players, coaches, committee members and spectators yesterday. It has no idea of the bucket of shit that is going to decent upon them this week.

I’ll get up in the morning and go to my job that I love, I’ll come home to the place I love living in and I’ll also know that I still have my football club.

Ive just read bits and pieces of the thread but what incited all the incidents throughout the day? I notice Newport u18s hadn’t lost a game all year….was it because they were threatened and in a position to lose they went the knuckle? I just don’t understand it at all

It is now early afternoon and WFNL has had 48 hours to put out some sort of statement regarding the disgraceful behaviour at the Division 1 Under 18's Grand Final on Saturday morning. So far - nothing.

I guess because it is Brownlow night the League thinks it can stop communicating with the community.

All clubs need to contact WRFL Management and request a public update. What I'm hearing is that clubs are willing to forfeit games against a certain WRFL club rather than put their players, volunteers and spectators at risk from thuggish violent crowd behaviour in 2026.

Also needs to be addressed that not everyone is a “Newport Hater” or has an agenda against them. I and others generally want to be able to know that we can support our local clubs, either has players or spectators, without certain thugs doing whatever they want knowing they can get away with it.

I was at Newport in round one, I thought they did a great job hosting the day, big well behaved crowd and a ripper game.

Unfortunately a few bad seeds ruin it for everyone.

Why didn’t anyone from the club go over to that area and speak to these idiots?
Why don’t they put out a statement banning people and especially that no14 they should suspend him for 12 months.

But no they won’t.. That’s where the problem lies.

It was under 18 boys footy. If you need to intimidate opposition players just to try and get a win then really you need to give the game away..

I have been around this league forever - I can’t remember going to a GF be it Div 1 or Div 2 (Senior Men) and Police not having a presence - what happened? Did the league even request that they be present? Don’t get me wrong, on the day they wouldn’t have been able to do much. However, they could have been a deterrent and prevented some of what occurred. They would have also been witnesses to what occurred. What actions did the league take prior to the game?

Weren’t Newport reserves involved in an incident earlier in the season vs Districts a seconds player threatened the umpire and the game was called off?

Maybe the WFNL are still investigating the thirds game between north and Hoppers, has there been a resolution to that incident?

Turbo, how do you know that no one went to speak to the idiots? Do you really think people capable of doing what they did with no regard for man, woman or child will listen to a president nicely trying to speak him out of it? They can’t be controlled, it is unfair to put the blame on those higher ups, there’s nothing they can do in that situation with 1000 people on the ground at once. Let’s be fair.
