Watched the last 1.5 quarters of that game, close until 3qt, Lavo 8 goals to 3 last quarter.

Noticed the new rooms were opened, decking and partly enclosed verandah on the old rooms and old rooms renovated. Quite smart looking, but what was the temporary fencing right around the outer side preventing you watching from the boundary fence, was that for the 3rds finals the night before, but why?

Lavo finish the season with a % of 70, hasn't been that high for a while, and that was without the usual 2 big wins against North Sunshine.
This was my first time at the ground so don't know anything about the temp fencing. There was five points between the sides at 3/4 time but Lav was too strong and classy in the last to runout easy winners. I'll post my YouTube video of the last half in a couple of minutes.

Yes temporary fencing is for the 3rds competition. Wasn’t many at the game so not sure was worth it. Embarrassing situation to have the lights go off early in the last quarter and have to call the game off.

Temporary fencing was probably for the junior finals held there on Sunday

Good decision to return all D1 finals to Werribee and all D2 finals to Yarraville after dabbling with Braybrook, Williamstown and North Footscray in recent years. Best 2 venues for WFNL finals by a mile.

No doubt helps when Werribee VFL aren't playing finals.
Couldn't agree more. Werribee & Yarraville ovals are large with elevated viewing all around the grounds. So looking forward to this year's Div 1 & Div 2 finals clashes.

Played a lot of footy at both grounds and to me Yarraville was always electric. In my opinion Div 1 and Div 2 grand finals should be played there as they were for many years before the residents in the area had a sook!

Attended a WFNL Junior Final on Sunday at Laverton.

I hadn't been there for about 40 years when the CYs and Lavo were both part of the Western Suburbs FL, or it might have been the U18s in the former Werribee District FL; probably both.

It's been a beautiful transformation—a fence now surrounds the ground, clubrooms and facilities are excellent, and the playing surface is very good. Trees planted 40 years ago have grown. The entire place has been transformed into a venue that Lavo should be proud.

Now for the unpleasant part:

Cups of tea:

Laverton: $6
Willy CYs: $3
Kensington Juniors and Uni Blues U19 (same ground): $2
Newport Power: Cups, tea bags, and an urn full of boiling water provided: Free

It was surprising to pay $18 for three cups of tea for three grandparents of players.
$6 can buy 100 teabags, each costing 6 cents.
$18 can buy 300 teabags.
Thus, the markup per cup is 94%, (less the cost of polystyrene cups and voluntary labour).

Someone at the Laverton Football Club has the foresight to project the Club to be the most prosperous in the WFNL. 10/10

$6 for a foam cup cuppa is a bit rich. Am just up the road SS, should have dropped in, would have made you a freebie.

Last Saturday at Laverton for the Laverton v Western Rams game they were charging $2.50 for one potato cake which I thought was a bit expensive.

Gotta pay for all those ‘big’ recruits this year. Not sure they were all worth it, results didn’t really show

North Footscray by 23 points today. Great weather and a great ground promised a great game. The first quarter was played at a ferocious pace with both teams putting their bodies on the line. Some hard tackles by both sides made me happy I was on the other side of the fence. West F were always threatening but North F always looked like they had an extra gear when the game got too close. A small but passionate crowd saw North F pull away in the second half and although West F got to within 3 and a half goals early in the last, North cruised to a comfortable win. I filmed the last half and will share the YouTube link in a couple of days. Great time to be in Melbourne with finals everywhere.

Suns by 34 points today. Who would have picked that? The last round of the season saw Braybrook defeat the Suns by 28 points and exactly 8 days later both teams lined up for the elimination final. Braybrook were looking for another win but it was not to be. After an even first quarter the Suns kicked 7 goals to 1 in the second quarter to lead by a mammoth 40 points at the long break. In the second half Braybrook gave their all and never gave up however the Suns had an answer for every question and held their nerve and lead to run out 34 point winners. The Suns played great team football with winners all over the ground. As usual, I recorded the second half and will share the YouTube link in about 3-4 days. Gotta luv suburban footy.

Most Ammo clubs charge $2 to $3.50 for a cuppa and 3 Potato cakes for $5.
For the $18 I paid for three cups of tea, I could buy 300 teabags.
300 Cups of tea @ $6 each (less the enormous cost of a polystyrene cup + the $18 cost of the T-bags), = see below: -
$1782.
They're certainly switched on at Lavo.

Thanks Doggy Boy. I think I owe you a beer, so a cuppa at Laverton should suffice.
Whenever I'm at an opposition club's after-match bunfight, I'm always happy to weigh in for the raffle, not expecting to win it but to support the Club. All footy clubs are in the same boat and it's good to support each other.
BUT $6, nobody likes to be ripped off (and free at Newport Juniors).

That’s not great by Lavo. Shit form to rip people off.

Went and watched two very interesting and great games of Division 2 footy this weekend.

I can’t get my head around Wyndhamvale losing that game yesterday. Well done to the Devils for sticking with them and capitalizing on the falcons missed opportunities.

Today’s game was a much better spectacle. Better weather, highish scoring. Two former division 3 teams putting on a cracking game of footy.

Next weeks prelim should be a good game between West and Wyndhamvale.
