Exactly the same stuff Filo. And your correct it does go dormant during winter. Key is to not cut it after march (or lift the height of cutters) as it obviously does not grow in the cooler climate. That way when left it will also keep its color for a longer period and take more traffic. Also can be over sewn with Rye grass to help keep its color.

Previous post deleted. New one.

Someone better tell Wyndham council not to go near Soldiers during the season then.

Thanks for that, it was a great year for the club celebrating 50 years and winning both senior flags. Contrary to what Choofa might think, even though he sounds like a very educated person, it took a lot of hard work from a lot of people to get there. Not just in my 2 years at the club but even before that with guys like Terry Cooper, Gibbo, Steve Zavalas, etc all helping to build a good list and make sure the club could have sustained success. I'm sure some people think you can wave a magic wand and make a flag appear, or that if you spend big money on players you are guaranteed success but the reality is that it takes good planning, management and a bit of luck along the way.

Albion have lost a few players from last year, like most clubs, however the recruits coming in, the players returning from injury, players coming back to the club and the natural progression of the younger guys will still make them a very hard team to beat. They are a very proud club with some fantastic people involved and now that they have tasted premiership success I can assure you they won't take the foot off the pedal. Good coach in place with some good people around him.

All clubs should be looking forward to a good year, it seems as if the competition has evened up a lot and you could make a case for any one of 7 or 8 teams having big years.

Good luck to all but go CATS!!!

Bumped into him at Watergardens S/C about 4 weeks ago. Things could've changed since then though

Another one gone from Spotty "Luke Sinnot"

Looks like BIG BAD RAY will get a token game after all

I have a feeling the bubble has burst:eek:

One of Spotty's oh so faithful care to elaborate on the mass exodus:confused::confused:

Cant beleive all these blokes who pot big bad rayzor18. This blokes is nothing short of an inspiration to the spotswood football club and the western suburbs in general. If they dont rename the westgate after him they should at least name the williamstown rd exit the rayzor18 exit. This bloke commits that much to the footy club its amazing. Watching every juniour game played, getting to the ground early on a saturday to not only coach the under 18's but help out with auskick also! Anyone who thinks this bloke gets a charity game is kidding themselves, he trains the house down every night, does extra roman wrestling training on the side and everyone walks taller when he's out on the field, not to mention how HARD at the aggot he is. Im a bit past my use by date but i'd do anything to be able to play a game with this bloke! Keep up the good work big fella cause we all know for a fact you bleed green and gold, are king of the kids and you attack that footy at a million miles an hour on a saturday, FACT!

Heard that Scratcher Allan is making a comeback to senior footy at 36

So he should, top player & fella:thumbsu:

Think people are under-estimating Spotty with the loss of players. It should be noted Jason Cloke (massive get), Torin Baker won a Mathieson Medal (Geelong FL) league medal a couple of years ago. Sure there is more to come but must admit; McGhie, Mangan, Sinnot, Noye, Keenan represent a fair chunk of there top 10 players.

This was posted in the previous thread just before it was closed. Just updating it with funeral details.

Stan's funeral is tomorrow at St Bernadette's Church, Westmoreland Rd, North Sunshine at 1.30 p.m. The Funeral will leave at the conclusion of Mass for burial at Altona Memorial Park, Dohertys Rd, Altona North.

A true legend of the WRFLUA and a great helper to many clubs - RIP Stan Mielczarek

From WRFL website:

WRFL Umpires, the WRFL Executive and WRFL Administration along with the whole WRFL community are in mourning today with the sudden death of WRFL Umpires Association Hall of Fame / legend and current umpire Stan Mielczarek.

In the 30 years Stan was with the WRFL umpires he raised over $100,000 for the for the WRFL Umpires Association. He was the organiser and trip manager for the end of season trips and looked after the club umpires at Division Two level for many years. Stan very rarely missed a night of training holding his position in the corner of the umpires’ rooms. He was always first to offer advice to the new umpires and anyone wanting some guidance. His relationship with club personnel throughout the league ensured a close connection between the clubs and umpires.

The WRFL Community mourn his passing and pass on condolences to his family.

Massive man crush there but pretty close except for the bolded parts. Doesnt coach the 18's walks through the rooms on the way to the canteen for and early morning hotdog and inso far as the auskick goes where else can you knock off free maccas awards? But hey who doesnt love the Ray ray?

All of the departures managed by Ricky Nixon enough said hahahaha

we are getting close enough to start making predictions about top 4, top 6 and anything else to start discussions about aren't we,

Top 4 ( not in any order - Albion, Spotswood, sunshine and Atona - First two haven't heard too much about what new guys they have got, other than Cloke at Spottie). eXpect sunshine and Altona both to be fighting for top two spots over the year

Next two to make up top 6 - St Albans and Hoppers

Colts maybe to fight for the 6th spot and can't see any of the other 3 to be threats (Heights best of them mainly because of their honme ground advantage)

Should be the most even year we have seen for some time, think top 6 will beat each other continuosly during the year to make it hard contest all year

Easy to pot a bloke after watching his last game! Stupid free kicks, probably cost his team. Too slow, turns over the ball.....Need more?

It's been a while since i have even bothered to read bf, but now the season is coming around hopefully some footy talk on here.

The colts will play finals this year 100% with the likes of winters, heffernan, williams returning and then adding the wilsmore brothers from mulgrave turnbull from lara and another two guys from the mpnfl ( not sure of names) the colts depth has grown considerably. All up i think it's close to 9 new quality senior player and a hell of alot of leg speed amongst it.

Should be a very good year of wrfl footy with the top 7 teams all very capable of beating one another.

Rock - you scared everyone away:D

Are you playing and will you fit into the new faster squads plans?

Also what is with all the departures to Corio, what is the association down that way?
