What's the go with this Sidebottom. Is he still at Melton as a write up on him on local footy. Is he a good player, and if so how did he come to play at div3 WRFL. Seems strange if he is a good player why would you play at this level??
Cheers
Good recruiting lol

So I spoke to a few fellas down at tarneit and they said that training is flying and the boys are looking good. Also mentioned it had a lot to do with the fitness regime implemented by new assistant coach. Anyone from the club care to comment?

It's a usual scenario when players wish to move to opposition clubs. Need to try and convince them to stay otherwise ultimately they will end up being cleared unless they are contracted, then it requires negotiating if they took sign ons etc..Clubs can't just let players go willy nilly..
With Sidebottom his moving to a higher standard of footy so can't refuse the clearance..

Another bit of advice to clubs, if the player has done wrong by the club in any way (ie: owe money, broke a promise/agreement, told you late etc) then play hard ball but keep in mind they will never return. If you clear them in a good way ( ie: maybe they gave you good service or have legitimate reasons) then maybe they might return one day..

If a player doesn't have club property a contract or owe money, then the club must clear them.

There's no Willy nilly about it

Mate, they still need a valid reason. Let's use an example: Coach changes clubs and wants to take 5-6 players. Does the club clear them all? Ok maybe they have a maximum limit per club well then they go to another league and then across via a dodgy deal.

They don't have to clear anyone without a valid reason but ultimately they end up getting cleared.

Any other footy news!!

I hear Sunshine Heights are struggling and on there knees.. Anyone confirm this as players would probably go to div3 clubs maybe in surrounding areas!

Aflvic rules and regulations are that unless a player is contracted, owes money or club property otherwise there is nothing the club can do.

You have a week to action it, if they don't owe you, you don't own them. Players aren't property to you club.

My approach is if any player is contracted and made a deal and accepted payment, they have an obligation to honor that commitment. If the player wants to move on and take the money then run, don't clear them unless they would like to pay back some of the money given within the deal/signed arrangement. This applies to
Coaches both ways too.
If there has been no signing of contract beyond a season and all money and contractual obligations met, then let them go and get rid of them. At the end of the day if a player doesn't want to be there get rid of them.
Sign on fees btw are the biggest wank known to man and can't believe any club has ever paid one... If a player genuinely wants to come to your club, they would never accept let alone ask for one... Just shows there motives. Integrity is a word many have no concept of

Your got to be kidding champ, if you are not contracted owe money or got something belonging to the club, you don't have to give FARKKK all reason for leaving, you can just simply leave because you would like a change!
Stupidest thing I've ever heard

Hey there Lavo Magpie my old friend, with these types of posts you are wasted on big footy, and need to get back involved at club level somewhere in some capacity..
Sign ons are an interesting topic as has been around for years but more widely known now. Agree with your thoughts but sometimes need to play the game to survive, mainly at the top level of leagues. If a player would like an upfront payment you can provide one and give them less as a weekly payment to balance out over the duration of a contract. This is more for players who have a consistent

Ok let me make my point a bit clearer.. When a player wishes to leave a club I believe the player should have the decency to meet the coach or footy manager and explain their situation. Just lodging a clearance or sending the coach a text is not respectful IMO.
PS: I'm more referring to senior players who the club rely on to make them competitive..

Footy is professional these days a bit like a 9-5 job. If your going to resign you must give notice and most times the boss will want to have a chat.

This meeting could provide valuable feedback to player and club..

PS: I just get annoyed when players might leave into a season and give no reason, just walk out and request a clearance. As most times the club suffers..

Anyway enough said on this topic from me.

Probably owe money, or haven't paid the new registration fee to the league

Well said justin... maybe if lavo had been Involved in leeroys and your pyramid schemes such as ripplin they could have been able to afford to pay players

If a bloke hasn't trained with you and its February, and you haven't contacted him already its poor form from the coach and footy manager if they haven't made contact.
