Never had a problem when I played in the wrfl

Biff happens in all comps I've ever played in and it gets more attention in the lower divisions

I'm not condoning it but It's not a wrfl specific issue

Can only assume you mean YOU never had an issue, certainly been plenty over the years in WRFL, even this year.
No, not WRFL specific, but they would have to be the worst and most of it comes from the top, penalties to teams/clubs not heavy enough

I think Sanctuary Lakes games were called off too? Unless Braybrook played themselves

Sorry should have been more specific. Sanctuary Lakes vs Braybrook seniors called off in the fourth due to alleged fisticuffs of an inordinate nature.

Sanctuary Lakes 9.6-60 12.9-81 15.18-108 0.0
Braybrook 4.0-24 6.4-40 6.4-40 0.0

Based on above, I assume their will be plenty of reports out of the game, or are the umpires as weak as the admin and did nothing

Couldnt blame the umpires if they were a bit shy this weekend

No reason to be shy, if its reportable its reportable. Not as if a report determines a game, which I assume you were referring too. If their too shy to report a player, then they shouldn't be umpiring. I am only guessing as I wasn't there, but I can only assume if they had taken control of the game sooner with send offs & reports, maybe the game could have been completed. Wouldn't have thought just one incident had caused the game too be called off, obviously there were incidents that lad up to the final larger incident

More leading to the fact one of thier brethren got chased off the field last sunday... they are all probably a bit shy!

Just listening to 3AW Neil Mitchell, a parent from Sanctuary Lakes is giving it both barrels to Braybrook, everything was basically was caused by cheap shots from Braybrook players, club has a reputation for this sort of behaviour.

Good luck with your club in the WRFL next year table tennis, this is the type of shit you will get.

Pros and cons to every decision. Looking forward to the new chapter in our clubs books. Hopefully we can be part of a solution rather than part of the problem!

Hell would freeze over before you see the WRFL come up with a solution to the bullshit that happens in this league. Or maybe your President will have a solution when he becomes a WRFL Board member.

Was speaking to a mum yesterday who's boy this year played U11's at your club, she and her boy were at the 15's GF last week and saw what happened. On the weekend they went to watch Sanctuary Lakes seniors and saw what happened to the player who was hit and now the son is saying to his mum that he doesn't want to play footy next year, and the mum is also now thinking the same.

Like I said, good luck in this shit environment next year.

STATEMENT

THE WRFL is investigating an on-field incident involving players from Braybrook and Sanctuary Lakes Football Clubs on Saturday 19 August.

The league has no further comment to make at this time.

Another incident sweeped under carpet

Lot of thought gone into the Statement by the league. Simply a copy and paste from the previous week with the clubs names changed and we have yet to hear any outcome from that so can only assume this will be pushed under the carpet or put in the to hard basket.

League are useless always have been always will be as for Braybrook about time the WRFL took a stand and de register them the only players they attract are thugs that can't play football

Pretty sure my 4 year old put that together. For this incident to be in the public forum and that being the best the comp can put out....well I think the AFL needs to step in, remove current administration and replace them with 1 or 2 competent people. Or the clubs should simply protest by not turning up to games against teams such as Braybrook who require you to have a criminal record in order to register you. Fair dinkum....what a disgrace!

How sad. Did Sanctuary Lakes make these thugs pay in the scuffles that followed?

Interesting footage on the news of part of the incident where the SL player was injured. Certainly don't condone the violence and hope the SL player is OK, but if you take a close look, the SL player was dragged out of the melee then divide back in to attack a Braybook player. This is when 3 Braybook players attacked him. Certainly not saying the SL player started it, just saying he was not the innocent party the folk being interviewed portrayed

Leading up to the incident they didn't show Brody Lane King hit him

Has anyone been put in jail for incidents on a Footy field? Perhaps that needs to be the consequence. No place for it. Again feel sorry for the club volunteers from both sides who would have been doing their best to stop the situation. They are the ones left to pick up the pieces after something like this. But until these thugs get dealt with by the legal system, they will feel like they are immune to consequences whilst on field and it will continue to happen.

Why should a sports field be exempt from normal rules and law?

In my time I have seen many incidents on the field which, had they happened in the street or even over the boundary fence, would have resulted in charges and prosecution.

Yet the worst that happens is fronting the tribunal where you get told to sit in the naughty corner for a week or four.

Please note I am not aiming at normal tough in-play physical contests, I am specifically targeting the off-the-ball thug heroes and those who go for the cheap shots. Such as the guy who tackled a player, looked around to see where the umpire was, then put his knee on the other bloke's neck and leaned on him. (Not WRFL, I might add!) Or the incident earlier this year where a hero ran in to where a player was being held in a headlock on his back and stomped on his face.

None of that shit is hard. None of it is tough. It's weak and cowardly and small and mean. Why not weed these arseholes out of suburban footy by applying society's rules of justice instead of giving them an immunity card every time they walk over the boundary line?

I agree, however, the league needs to grow some balls and ensure the penalty fits the crime. None of this 2 & 3 weeks shit, if it is serious enough for an investigation its minimum 10 weeks.
However, as I said, the league has no balls, 2 weeks ago a player was charged with 'Kicking another person' and gets 1 week. Dare I say what club he was from. Be interesting to see if he was involved in any incident this week
