WRFL Division 3 2021

60something in the ressies, 98 points in the seniors.

Both the Dragons and Suns were cruelled - cruelled, I say! - by the umpiring. One was div4 standard with occasional encouraging bursts of ordinary, the other had delusions of adequacy. The final score for both sides is incorrect due to scoring errors from the goalies - clear goals being given a behind, a couple of behinds given as out on the full.

The kids doing the scoreboard didn't quite keep up (no problem) and disappeared at the end of the quarters (nothing unusual there), so it was out for much of the game (at least they had a go, good on them. Give them a pie and coke after the game).

It is reported that at the end of the first quarter, the umps got the scoreboard corrected and then waved it off - 4-3-28. Oh, OK. And it is rumoured - hearsay and conjecture - that at three quarter time, the scoreboard was 2 goals under, one goalie's card had one point too many, the other goalie was three goals three points too few. Umpires could not agree on the score, neither matched the scoreboard, but it was waved off as correct and they set off to begin the last quarter. Again it is only rumoured that someone had to supply the scores that the timekeepers and team managers had recorded.

A glittering endorsement for the WRFL proud boast that "we supply umpires for all matches" and then demand average whistleblowers and young kids to back up ressies and seniors, and still expect them to be able to perform for eight quarters. It isn't fair on the umpires and it sure as hell isn't fair on the players and spectators.

Looking forward to the challenge next week with Albanvale!
Suns on a roll love people writing them off tipping sunshine heights should be a close contest next week

Jesus.

Heights played terrible I heard but full credit to the Suns. I backed Suns but not by that margin, thought playing at Heights home ground would have kept scores closer.

Well we’ll see how good Suns are next week in the top of the table clash. Should be a good game.

no one wrote them off, just though heights at home on a wet day would be to good, I can’t always get em right. Credit to them that’s a great win. Massive game next week in both grades. Can’t wait should be a ripper

Edit: corrected margins
May I ask exactly where abouts that the wrfl have been boasting that they can supply umpires for all matches? AFL and VFL would be the only leagues that can guarantee they will be able to supply umpires I would have thought 😂 surely even the wrfl wouldn’t be guaranteeing something they have no control over whether they will have enough umpire numbers or not? 🤔

Brookers - Bye. Fair guess that they all will be at the Suns / Cobras game.

Cobras over Suns by 8.4 goals (expecting a physical match).

Tarneit over Lavo by 13.7 goals

As most expected the season is playing out with Albanvale, Suns and Braybrook with Heights the 4th team. Which of these clubs could stay in Div 2 if they get promoted or will it be a case of win Div 3 flag spend 1-2 years in Div 2 then head back to div 3.

Point Cook Centrals, Newport and Parkside have all found a way and are doing pretty well up there.

Newport and Parkside should never of played in Div 3, they are Div 2 clubs like Glenorden that the league assisted to get them back. Point Cook Centrals built a club with a strong junior and female program which not only injects young players but also money. They went a little hard early backed off to focus on building a club and from the outside looked to get it right.

Braybrook FC has never finished last and been relegated in 147 years. Last time we were promoted from Div 3 in ‘98, we made the GF and then won the flag undefeated in ‘99. We reckon we can handle promotion.

Ummm... this might be a dumb question... but if you were promoted from div3 how did you get relegated back to div3 without finishing last? Did you do a Parkside?

They were part of the breakup in 2014 of div 2 and 3 when the last 6 were relegated to div 3 with 5 or 6 games left.

We would never do a Parkside. We went into recess and were moved from Div 1 to Div 3 on readmission to the comp. in 1990 and 1997. Both times we won our way back to Div 1. In 2004 we were in Div 1 and finished 10th in a 12 team comp., and were moved to Div 2 as the league restructured Div 1. In 2014 the league split Div 2 to form the Div 3 comp. We won the flag in 2014 in Div 3 but the league did not promote us to Div 2. Bit stiff huh.

You did throw everything you had to stay in div 2 back in 2014 which has caused you 5 years of struggle.

Win games would be a start wouldn’t it

Clearly they did start with winning games as they won the flag in 2014 dennels.

You seem to hate braybrook so much. Why is that?

But guys why is no one talking about the big game this week.
