Guayaquil is on the coast.
Fair point it is hotter on the coast. Still the numbers arent exactly that bad and they are a poor country with likely poor social distancing. Also is a point of entry for many international tourists wanting to go to the galapagos. Do we have a breakdown of community spread vs imported?

I havent said the virus cant spread in warm weather. Clearly it can as we have seen community spread here in australia (albeit not a lot of it). Ive said the data suggests that the virus appears to thrive in colder climates compared to warmer. Something you yourself have noted.

Millions Of Women Outraged As Essential Oils Businesses Deemed Non-Essential
April 3rd, 2020

article-5853-2.jpg

LAVENDER FALLS, IA—Women everywhere say they're very angry as their oil businesses, which are clearly labeled essential, are nonetheless being called non-essential.

The women say they are organizing protests -- where they will stand six feet apart, of course -- and letter-writing campaigns. Some violent women are even creating essential oil Molotov cocktails to throw at government buildings. They don't do any damage but do make the place smell nice.

Local woman Karen DeCastro said she was "outraged" and "incensed" and "couldn't even" when her local government informed her selling essential oils is not an essential business.

The essential oils businesses in her area were ordered to stop holding sales pitches in the homes of their friends and family members. DeCastro said she wasn't going to take this lying down, however, as she's going to fight for her right to sell essential oils for approximately $1.50 an hour.

"Excuse me, I'd like to speak to a manager," the indignant woman said as a county official told her that selling essential oils is not essential. "What could be more essential than essential oils? It says they're essential right in the name."

"Tell you what -- come inside and hear my short, two-hour sales pitch, and I'll send you home with a free care package of oils. If you still don't think they're essential, then I'll stop selling them, no problem."

The county official is now in her downline.
Funny 😁 but surely fake news? I’m mean I know people are stupid ...

Only two things matter for evaluating which country is doing better on virus spread. Your infections per capita. Your growth rate in infections.

When discussing a country of 24.6 million vs a country of under 5 million it would be completely idiotic to not use per capita basis when looking at infection Spread. New zealand could by 95 percent infected and australia only 30 percent and you would claim new zealand was doing better.

australia and new zealands infection per capita is about the same. With australia slightly higher. Although if you include the nz probable numbers you have just provided then new zelands infection per capita is higher.

new zealands infection growth rate, however, is now currently tracking way higher then australias.

i correct myself. Australia is doing better than new zealand.

i have posted no misinformation. Just a hypothesis that fits with the data remarkably well.

When looking at the growth rate of an infection it would be completely idiotic to use per capita basis. When the infections or deaths have stabilised, then it makes sense. I gave you expert advice from the Financial Times modellers to support this. You ignored this and made a false statement - your first sentence. Why do only those two things matter? It’s bullshit and you (should) know it.

I am glad you can spell hypothesis. Because that’s about the limit of it for you.
If you were really posting a statement that you were prepared to test, you would have rejected it by now with the evidence presented. But instead, you hang on to your idea desperately, changing the goal posts as you go.

Why, I wonder? Is it because your orange God said that when the weather gets warmer the virus will go away? Is it because all that matters is politics and you will bend the truth to fit it?

The American Association of Naturopathic Physicians Urges Authorities to Include and Use Licensed Naturopathic Doctors in Plans to Combat the Novel Coronavirus Pandemic The Association calls for increased access to care and telemedicine as a way to promote health and safety of those at the highest risk.

The American Association of Naturopathic Physicians (AANP), representing 8,000 licensed naturopathic doctors (NDs) in the United States, encourages all government officials coordinating the national response to the 2019 Novel Coronavirus Pandemic (COVID-19) to to utilize all licensed healthcare professionals in this health emergency, including NDs. Licensed NDs work collaboratively across all forms of medicine, and in regulated states are already integrated into health systems. Serving in primary and specialty care, NDs are ready, willing, and able to support other medical professionals in changing the trajectory of this public health crisis.

Health literacy and patient education are central components of the naturopathic doctor’s approach to patient-centered care. Many current public health practices and lifestyle recommendations are foundational principles of naturopathic medicine and inform our approach to support public health efforts through this current pandemic. We stand in solidarity with our colleagues at the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), World Health Organization (WHO), and State and Local governments in promoting essential public health measures to reduce the burden on U.S. and global healthcare systems.

We call on Federal, State and Local authorities to engage naturopathic doctors in emergency measures to supplement the healthcare workforce during this crisis, recognizing:

• NDs are trained comparably to conventional doctors to diagnose and triage according to presenting symptoms, refer to the appropriate level of care, and support patients during at-home symptom management.

• NDs practice patient-centered medicine and tailor personalized care plans. In addition to all public health recommendations, NDs employ a toolkit of treatment approaches that can be used to support the body’s inherent immune capacity to prevent viral infections, address viral infections directly, ease symptoms in those infected, and support recovery during post-infection care.

Further, we recommend the following actions be taken to empower licensed naturopathic doctors to promote the health and safety of those at highest risk:

• Increase access to care: Licensed NDs can serve in states that have declared states of emergency and are calling for volunteer healthcare practitioners to prevent their healthcare systems from becoming overwhelmed.

• Increase access to Telemedicine services: We call on insurance providers who currently cover the services of licensed NDs to cover telehealth services provided by NDs, following the recent Telehealth guidelines issued by CMS. This will allow NDs to continue treating patients with chronic diseases or comorbidities that make them more susceptible to SARS-CoV-2, and will allow patients to stay safely at home.

• Expedite research on novel agents: Many agents in the naturopathic medicine toolkit have been shown to have a pharmacological effect on related viruses. Naturopathic doctors are the only licensed health care providers trained in the science and clinical use of these agents. We encourage the rapid exploration and study of novel agents that may serve to slow the progression of this particular pandemic, inclusive of relevant research coming out of countries with strong histories of using traditional medicines safely and effectively.

AANP President, Robert Kachko, ND, LAc, stated, "Naturopathic doctors are well-equipped to diagnose and refer to the most appropriate level of care based on clinical presentation and diagnostic staging, supporting continued access to our limited local healthcare resources for our most vulnerable populations. In particular, we encourage those individuals who test positive to the SARS-CoV-2 virus but are instructed by healthcare authorities to self-quarantine at home to receive personalized care from naturopathic doctors via telemedicine.”

The American Association of Naturopathic Physicians and its affiliated organizations will remain a resource to our colleagues in health and medicine, working to limit this pandemic and ensure the continued health and safety of our nation.

Their crystals and essence of lavender will be the difference. We're saved!

That's because NZ isn't really a tourist Mecca. Not being as susceptible to pandemics is one of the few silver linings of being an international backwater, which NZ is.

They had 410,232 overseas visitor arrivals in January 2020 alone. That’s almost 10% of the population in one month.
Australia had 788,900 overseas visitor arrivals in January 2020. That’s 3%.
Until New Zealand closed their borders they were much more susceptible to CoVid-19 than we were.

Yeah - in Victoria you are allowed to shop for food and other necessary goods and services.

Bottle shops still open so apparently alcohol is necessary - thank God! Bunnings are restricting entry by having customers walk up and down long lines connected by string, like at the airport - X separators on the ground - then only allowing a certain number in at any one time. Some of Bunnings goods could be classed as essential but others not - the gardening section was fully open.
If one cannot maintain your property it could be a fire risk (weeds, long grass) and it is a reasonably isolated activity

A piece of advice that is not only clueless, but dangerous.
There are people who have stolen n95 masks from our hospitals who should be shamed for doing it. Particularly when they keep touching their hair and face anyway!

its a tough one when considering cloth masks because we are lacking information about whether they help or make things worse.

its not tough when considering proper masks. Dont wear them unless you are on the frontline and have a high probability of coming into contact with corona patients or you have corona at the moment or you are highly vulnerable to corona (cancer patients on chemo, flu patients or the elderly).

if frontline doctors run out of masks and other protective gear then they simply quit their jobs and there are no doctors left. unfortunately this scenario now has a realistic probsbility of occuring.

dont wear proper masks. See a fit 20 year old in the street wearing one then ask them if they have a valid reason for it. We are at the stage where doctors not on the frontline should also not be wearing them even if they work in a hospital with corona patients. Thats how bad the shortage is.
Really? They are still selling masks at the pharmacy in the RPA hospital. Why would they be doing this?

Only 1 Death attributed to the virus is pretty impressive as well

Trump sounds a lot more sympathetic to passengers and crew on cruise ships in the area than we do to the ones in our vicinity

Massive difference is that those cruise ships have Florida as their home port.

You have takeway food daily when you travel Overseas? Probably once or twice a week for me.

Mate when my girlfriend and I were in New York in December we ate McDonald's on most nights. Unhealthy and a missed opportunity to 'taste' the city but we didn't care.

Since the pandemic started (and my partner was stood down) we have been cooking at home a lot more. But we are still trying to support local businesses that we would normally eat from - just can't do it as much.
