Slapping huge fines on people for cruising around in a car is a huge police state overreach and the coppers reported comments that they are "having a field day" is a disgrace. We don't live in ******* China. Nothing wrong with going for a walk down the beach either.

Hope you get fined.

Chinese cops would be strict as s**t, but i doubt if they'd make stupid field day comments.
Kid should go to court and represent herself.
Her defence , Mum told me to do it.
Probably has no money.
Then refuse to pay any fines and see what happens.

i don't see a $1632 fine here or in fact any fine, maybe just maybe its easier to pick on a Mum and her daughter!!

BTW were did they pluck that number from, how did a shiny arsed public servant who will never lose his job stumble on that number.

To learn how to drive. Girl might need to find a job when this is over (or now) and being able to drive will help that.

What is the R0 of learner driving while having coronavirus? 0.0000000000001? Patently absurd restriction.

It's not essential so how about she bloody learn it after this thing is over??? She can't get a license now so what's the point?

Her mum kept on bitching about her daughter being only 17 and I bet it's the mum's idea.

You know she drove 30km away from home so something is fishy.

Yeah I'm gonna trust her word the cop said that.

In the navy it's called hot bunking, assume the army has a similar practice. Not the air force, they have 5-star accommodation and get all pouty if they have to slum it to 4-star.

only place i have ever seen it in the Navy is on a sub, two blokes share a bunk but obviously not at the same time.

I was in the Navy for quite a period and every ship i served on you had your own rack.

They are leading with fear causing you to panic like sheep.
… You don’t need hand sanitizer, toilet paper, and Lysol. You need common sense, a sense of direction, faith, a will to fight, and of course guns!

Thought it would be a reasonable defence to say it was for educational purposes. I tought my three, you need to travel out of your suburb to get anything like 120 hours.

uncovers a parallel effect of thesame thing . Mild distancing comes in, people ignore it. Instead of addressing everything constantly, they up the restrictions and fine a few people $1600.

crazy. The fine in UK is about fifty bucks.

driving experience used to be 80 hours but people rorted it. The response? Up the hours to 120 for the honest people. We are farted in this country when it comes to law and order
It’s a totally over the top amount of hours and counter any climate change initiatives, just mindlessly driving for the sake of it

I was honestly asking the question about driving experience time today. It’s not clear(I suppose it is now - but one person has a $1600 fine to let the rest of us know.

suppose you want to go and collect goods you can buy legally. You are then at the mercy of a cops discretion if you are one of the ones selected to fill a quota.

if you got the stuff delivered by a worker - OK
If you get a taxi or Uber to collect it - OK
If you register as Uber and your family employs you to collect something -OK
If you collect it yourself - who knows it’s the thing you are getting and what here it’s ‘essential’

which of the above scenarios involve more people at risk of contacting others?

Off memory the person with the full licence cops the fine, not the kid

Is that not travelling for education purposes?
That would be the angle I’d argue and not pay.

Victoria has increased population for testing- have now included age >65 without other factors as high risk enough to swab if fever or respiratory symptoms, even if well enough to not be in hospital. Also any admission to hospital with fever and cause unclear OR respiratory symptoms should get tested.

Some of those post death tweets by people are pretty gross :(

Theirs is a society that will actually eat itself alive if too many more chips go down. And quite a few of them are packing heat.
There are a lot of Waco Texas like compounds. The South is nuts. The first guy I met in Louisiana told me his lifelong dream is to shoot a kangaroo. He was wearing a "Hillary Eats Babies" sign around his neck.

I probably shouldn't joke about this, but how long before they start shooting each other more than they already do over there?
