Makes plenty of sense.

There's a whole lot of people who wouldn't have given a fu** about homeless people, that didn't give a fu** about homeless people, suddenly giving a fu** about homeless people when it suits their views on masks.

Sorry it's so transparent.
The same "go back to wear you came from" crew that are oh so concerned about maritime safety in specific circumstances.

There is no actual hope of masks doing even a small amount of what they are supposed to do.
Do you have any evidence for this?

There are articles that suggest the contrary, that masks do make a difference.

The one benefit of wearing a mask is that if you do catch COVID, you won't be recognised.

This is not a thing.

Have a read:

If you're ensuring behaviour, you're not engineering choice architecture. You're compelling behaviour, which is the opposite.
In your attempt to look smart, you have misunderstood and misread what we were discussing. The masks are being used for a nudge for other measures (i.e. social distancing, keeping people constantly thinking about the virus and risks).

Yes.

You only care about this bit. Specifically. The bolded.

Feel free to point to your extensive history of concern about homeless people. You've got over 5,000 posts on here. I'm sure many of them have been concerned about homelessness right?
See, I don't get this. Who said a person has to have an "extensive history of concern on a football board" about homeless people, to say a further oppressive measure enacted on them is too far?

You're saying if I didn't campaign for shelter, then I can't at least comment that they should at least be allowed to breathe freely?

Who should say mask wearing 24/7 for the homeless is a step too far? Only the Salvation Army?

Are normal, sane reasonable people not allowed to speak up and say "hey, they're already in dire circumstances - let them breathe"?

Dude, you're so transparent. I have always empathised with those forced onto the streets. In fact, pretty sure I have commented before on this board that in a country as large and sparse as Australia, the only reason we have housing affordability is because state governments restrict land supply because they are addicted to stamp duty and land tax revenue (which, guess what - feeds big government!).

So basically, what YOU are saying is: owen87 really really cared for homeless people - but now that the government has reached a massive step too far in arresting them for not wearing a mask 24/7 you're not really concerned about that, you're more concerned about arguing with GoldenSky.

The person who supposedly cares for the homeless: no comment or concern about them being arrested for an anti-science 24/7 mask mandate.

Makes sense. You must really care for them.

The "go back to wear you came from" crew are the appalling bogans that, I guarantee you, live in Labor electorates and vote Labor.

The thought that a Liberal voter has a "fu** of we're full" sticker on their car is such a massive lol to me.

OK. Whatever. I think forcing someone to wear a mask 24/7, even when sleeping, on the streets is repulsive. I think it is repulsively oppressive.

I don't know what sort of childish tit-for-tat debate you think you're winning here, because we're actually talking about a real life situation here where someone has been arrested for simply being homeless.

How about you address the science, then?
You only give a sh*t about the homeless person because it suits your agenda.

I don't really care about whatever else you're saying, at least be upfront enough to admit the fact she's homeless isn't why you suddenly brought it up in this thread.

If only they were used EXACTLY as recommended, but they’re not. As I said previously, their value in our most fortunate situation is in keeping people’s attention. We all know there are no germs or viruses down at your local park while you’re throwing a stick for the dog, but you must wear a mask (at the height of the panic). I’m not against masks but it’s the people who are sick who should be required to wear them (or preferably stay home). Where I live there’s been no covid at all.

What is my agenda? That the medical advice says this is unnecessary?

Dude, the fact she is homeless is LITERALLY THE WHOLE STORY - it's not an additional little fact.

What about the people who are sick, but don't know it yet, and are out in the community, while contagious. Or are sick, but simply don't think they're sick enough to stay home. Or don't want to stay home even though they are sick.

Your agenda is using the homeless person to shoehorn in your politcal views.

OK sorry usually I would let left-wing loopies slide on by with their smears, but this time I'm putting you in your place. No one is saying "look how much I care about homeless people", doofus.

I have consistently, CONSISTENTLY brought to the attention of this board instances of POLICE OVERREACH. Examples below (can't quote back as threads have been closed):

I have complained about:
Threatening police vehicles.
Arbitrary police curfews.
Police patrolling funerals which were socially distanced.
Police patrolling people exercising not within an arbitrary km limit.
Police entrapment of the vulnerable.
The arrest of a woman without a mask WHO WAS NOT HOMELESS.
Overzealous and medically unsafe police arrest tactics.

Oh how ridiculous. I saw the thumbnail which popped up for the vid before it loaded. I thought it was some random South American police vehicle. Can't believe that's on our streets.

This, in addition to those drones deployed at the height of CovidCraziness to scare away people, just shows the Police have too much money.
Why the arbitrary 8pm curfew?
...

Ah. So it's a Police measure. Not a health measure. As I always knew. Ridiculous.
Yeah right. Victoria had armed police patrolling funerals in April.

Saying people can exercise only within 5km of home but then actually fining people for doing so?

How on earth is this a health measure?

Are these Covid measures protecting HEALTH, or are they simply far-left authoritarian power grabs?

Really? I thought she decided to flip the bird at that time. Did the wee little policeman get too offended?

This is a classic case of Police "entrapment" - will always occur with Anglo racists cheering on the Police abusing vulnerable people like this lady.

Victoria Police officers are under investigation over the handling of a confrontation with a woman who was not wearing a face-covering.

Because I don't support Police "entrapment" which is heavily used against minorities and the working class and those who can't speak up for themselves across the west - approach and corner and harass an innocent person, threaten and arrest them for no good reason, then get shitty when they get nervous and lash out for being treated unfairly and inhumanely.

I know people like to call me right wing here but I am all for #defundthepolice - why on earth we have government agencies like the Police, paid for with taxpayers money, out there to assault and harass people, is beyond me. Relic of 100 years ago.

But she's not an anti-masker. She had a medical exemption.

And giving the Police the finger...erm...that deserves being choked and thrown to the ground? What a pathetic policeman that person is...if you can't handle the plethora of different personalities out there in the community then fu** off out of the Police service.

Is standing outside "something wrong"?

Do you think there is a slight problem with the far-left government in Victoria if now standing outside is "something wrong" which means you have your face smashed into the footpath by over-zealous cops?

Does this Police state behaviour not concern anyone? Seriously?
A protest of two people? No. Smash them into the ground.

How ridiculous.

And what for? In contravention of restrictions. How to solve? Smother yourselves all over the women, thus putting health MORE at risk - by permanent injury, but also lack of social distancing.

Moronic.

Truly moronic.

Victoria Police confirmed two women holding placards were arrested.

Government supplied housing for the homeless = socialism = Bad
Making homeless people wear face mask = Tyranny

Solution = let me go outside without wearing a mask (p.s. fu** the homeless, those lazy dole bludgers should get a job).

Not sure the left would count me among their numbers.

No one is saying "look how much I care about homeless people"
So no, you don't care about homeless people, just the mask bit. Got it.

Examples below
More examples of where you're only concerned with masks and policing, to support how much you don't care about the homeless.

I'm putting you in your place
Yeah. You really did that. Using an article about a homeless person to shoehorn in your political views. You really got me.

...erm, the "mask bit" is literally the news? The homeless woman was arrested "for the mask bit". You understand that, right?

"Only concerned with masks and policing"...um yes this is a Covid thread? This is not a homeless thread? What on earth are you saying?

I think you've got into a pickle with your attempt to have a tit-for-tat debate about how someone you think is right-wing is a Really Bad Person, and now you just look silly. So, I'll put it real simple and clearly for you: there are many instances where governments and Police have overreached during Covid with oppressive control measures that make no sense scientifically - and arresting a homeless woman for not wearing a mask, where her homelessness would mean she must wear one 24/7 even when sleeping [note the special emphasis of why her homelessness is an issue and makes this mask-related arrest different to others, even though I have also raised examples previously of non-homeless people], is one of them.

The below is the post that upset you so much.

There would be a high level of correlation between people who are outraged about a homeless woman being asked to wear a mask today, and, people who were outraged about a homeless person tearing up a police order 18 months ago.
So yes, given you replied to that post, your concern for her homelessness is relevant.

I'm glad you've since clarified that you couldn't at all care about her homelessness, and are just using it as a vehicle for your political views.

I appreciate the honesty.

..but I'm literally caring for her homelessness, as my whole point is that people that aren't homeless get to breathe freely inside their homes, and sleep without a mask on? So enforcing the mask mandate in this way means she needs one on 24/7? I.e. why should she be treated oppressively by Police because of her homelessness?

Seriously, I have no idea what you are arguing. It sounds ridiculous. I've just posted like a hundred examples of me being critical of police overreach and oppressiveness, more than anyone else on this board probably ever has, and you still want to somehow paint me as a "Dutton supporting right-wing fruit loop that cheers on Police arresting poor people".

Just stupid. Honestly. I think this is the dumbest interaction I've ever had on this board in 16 years lol.

Please point to where I said that?

Seems you took it personally when it was suggested that sudden concern with the homeless, seemingly coinciding with the exact time a homeless person is arrested over mask laws, was perhaps a little less than a genuine concern for the homeless.

As I've said. You've since made it clear her homelessness is only relevant to further push your political views. So we've clarified your position.
