I've always been more interested in the government and societal response than the health impact of the virus, since we'll be living with the consequences of the former long after we've dealt with the latter.

Absolutely.

They're far more dangerous than the virus.

And never will be. If not this current virus, then the next one we don't even know about yet. Best just keep the masks permanently if you're going to take that attitude.
OR - when either there have been zero cases for a longer period, or widespread vaccination has been achieved.

It was annoying me in the local westfield shopping centre so went without - will probably do so from now on.

Doesnt take away from my point, which you just disregarded and went off on a tangent - if this disease is so bad then people choosing to eat inside a shopping centre shouldnt be allowed......

You have no point, it's just you being deliberately obtuse and pretending not to comprehend or understand why things are the way they are, as an excuse for you to complain about them being inconvenient for you.

So you walk past people eating at a shopping centre and think - that makes sense, me in my mask so i dont give/get the virus and them happily eating and being able to spread the same virus that you are trying not to spread.........ok then.

Same when going for a walk (when this rule was in place), wearing a mask to prevent spread/contracting this virus while old mate runs past you, breathing alot heavier than walkers and potentially spreading this virus to others who are wearing a mask.......ok then

Im happy being obtuse then

Have had a cold for 9/10 days is tiredness after a week a symptom? Got tested last week but came back negative. Really tired rn

It could be many things. Speak to your GP's and I'd guess some blood analysis would be in order.

Sorry mate, no-one gives a s**t about any other disease/virus.....jog on.... (im joking, hope you feel better but you get my drift)

Step son got tested last night because he had a bad case of Croup - negative.....reckon they were pumping up the test numbers, nurse even dropped the swab on the floor and put it in the testing bag.

I think so but he's always in hospital has issues mainly breathing related issues.

Make sure it's checked (diptheria & influenza shots).

His parents need to speak to the specialists about having adrenaline & oxygen on hand.

Neither of those things will give a 100% guarantee so I guess restrictions will have to be permanent.
Imagine that the day comes when, reluctantly and with feet dragging, probably after everyone is vaccinated, Dan is finally forced to say “Melburnians don’t have to wear masks anywhere, anymore,” and not long afterwards there is a CASE. (Because this wicked thing is out there.) How hard will it be to get the good citizens to don the masks again, for another indefinite period?

Is there a more compliant political population in the world than Australians?

There's * all resistance to libertarian incursions in our history. You would have to go back to the Eureka Stockade. Even the Whitlam sham went by without a shot fired. We're a nation of sheep.

Most folks aren't aware that we're living in a latent totalitarian country.

In terms of abuse of police powers Victoria is leading the country towards totalitarianism. The declared 'State of Emergency', which gives Daniel Andrews the right to to restrict individual freedoms, suspend constitutional norms and bypass normal parliamentary scrutiny has been in place since 16 March 2020 and recently extended to 16 Dec 2021. Police have been used to violently enforce these emergency powers and suppress legitimate protest.

Queensland and WA have imposed state border restrictions that mean Australia is not one country any more.

The Federal govt have prohibited international travel for its citizens since March 2020.

And here we are living a life like it’s 2019 to the envy of the rest of the world
Not really, as far as restrictions go we are about average atm. There are plenty of countries with more freedom than Australia
