It looks like it began in dirty wild animals being sold for huma consumption, and once again the consequences of this stupidity is possibly being forced on the rest of us. I hope that this leads to the end of unsanitary cruel treatment of animals over there, but it probably won't.

What's worse is they're not banning international flights. And there's a direct flight to this city to Sydney. Due to the selfishness of tourists and capitalists everyone is now at risk of being exposed
Let us just hope that all those on the inbound flight are attending an Anti-Vaxer convention hosted by Pete Evans.

Odd that you assume the only people who travel are tourists and capitalists. Very odd.

Root of all evil Tourists and Capitalists.

Years ago, the bird flu was spread by chickens from china for human consumption, but instead of admitting and start quarantining, they blamed it on Hong Kong chickens. Lo and behold it spread to country to country

That's how China operates, they will never admit they are wrong at anything, like a 5 year old kid

Its CNN matey. So you know they must be pushing some biased political line or narrative.
Spare us having to look at it and just spell out what we are being told to think.

Chinese are some of the least hygenic people on earth. Where's the surprise ?
Great post. Spot on.

It's a sobering thought when you ponder how easily a few billion citizens could be wiped out by a super-virus.

But then again, we're prob due for a big cull. And just imagine the immediate impact on carbon emissions.

There you have it - two of the biggest, most pressing issues on the globe right now solved with the unholy synthesis of the contents of a couple test tubes and a petri dish.

Genius.

Australia breeds tens of millions of chickens for human consumption every year, China are not on their Pat Malone exporting chooks.

Swine Flu originated in Iowa USA. At least that is where it was first identified. Since it has been re-named wrongly many times Mexican Swine Flu and at the moment, African Swine flu, in an effort to disassociate the stigma of it's imagined origin, mainly for marketing purposes. the only reason that flu strain did not spread worldwide early is that their was not real export market in 1931. Had there been the Americans would have done exactly what the Chinese alleged ly did with the bird flu virus. Money was king even more in the US then than it is now.

It is dangerous to rely on where a flu was first identified or first impacted the human population to apportion blame in any case.
It is not that simple.
Travel and access to once closed countries is what has enabled the rapid spread and mutation of most, not living conditions. Quarantine is a last resort measure in the vast majority of cases with financial concerns always at the forefront, dominant over welfare in almost every country, even Australia.

Flu virus is an extremely flexible and cunning adversary for sure.
The ability to mutate and or evolve in some case annually is one of the reasons the public has a perception the vaccines are ineffective.
For each strain a vaccine must be tailor made. Governments take a best guess on which strains are most likely to appear in the coming flu season based on the best science they have at hand. Last year in Australian they missed a strain and we had a very bad flu season.
Still very, very few died thanks to the vaccines.

The Spanish flu epidemic in 1918 killed over 50 MILLION people and is tied to a strain of H1N1 influenza ancestral to ones still virulent today.

One of the greatest tragedies of the Anti-vaxxer issue is that the constant development and use and refinement and development and use etc. etc. of current vaccines is the only thing which keeps us close enough to the next vaccine that may have to be used to defeat another Spanish flu.

Why do you care more about animals in China, than humans in Australia?

In fact your posting on this forum openly supporting the continued mistreatment of the indigenous in australia.

And how do you know that this virus was caused they way you said? Most outbreaks like this have been shown to be virus developed in labs.

Cnn take bribes from the very companies that been proven to develop viruses in labs, have the vaccine ready to go, before the virus accidently gets out and then Cnn blamed someone in Asia for it.

Then pro vaxxers come along blaming it on anti vaxxers when it was pro vaxxers that did it.

Corona virus will be the "climate change" of 2020.

In fact, I am looking forward to seeing how the climate nuts manage to insert this in to the hysteria.

Oh great the guy with multiple kids who wants to massacre millions of other peoples kids is back.

All because he doesnt understand resource economics nor the link between emissions and climate change.

What the actual???

None of those statements apply to me Seeds. Have never mentioned a thing about my kids nor other peoples' kids. Nor have I ever spoken of 'resource economics nor the link between emissions and climate change'. Feel free to search my post history - it's all freely accessible.

You're trippin', as usual.
