WWE WrestleMania 41 - Sunday 20th April & Monday 21st April 2025, 9am AEST (Countdown show 6am)

It’s been a few hours since Wrestlemania 41 wrapped up, and honestly, my feelings haven’t changed like I thought they might.

Wrestlemania 40 set the tone for what we should expect from the "Paul Levesque Era" — especially for big, emotional main events. It felt like the bar had finally been raised.

Tonight? Wrestlemania 41 didn’t meet that standard.

There were some fantastic matches — night one’s main event was brilliant, and most of night two delivered too — but the actual main event tonight? Total wet fart.

The build through Elimination Chamber, the Cody/Rock storyline — all of it — and yet tonight felt so half-arsed that The Rock didn’t even bother turning up. Cena winning his 17th world title should’ve been a huge emotional moment (whether he was heel or face), but it just… wasn't. It fell completely flat.

When the match ended, my first reaction was: "That's it? That’s all they had?"

After Wrestlemania 39, I was pissed Cody didn’t beat Roman, but at least I cared. I was desperate to see what would happen next.

After Wrestlemania 41? Nothing but disappointment. It’s not even about Cena winning — I was ready for that — but the way they did it lacked any real impact. This should have been a historic Wrestlemania moment. Instead, it felt like they phoned it in.

If anything I think the WWE are going out of their way to stick the finger up at the IWC. Jey Uso winning the rumble and the title, Rock showing up randomly, they were pretty vocal this week about podcasts and IWC.

Possibly but pretty silly if true. Why pre occupy yourself with it (if you're WWE)? Just do what you think will be good and make sense. Worked just fine the last couple Manias and til late last year.

I only watch rumble and mania these days but it seems wwe think Travis Scott is the most famous person in the world at the moment.
Watching him have this big entrance I was kind of like “oh okay yeah I’ve heard of this guy”. I know he was kind of involved in the story going in but all he did was pull the ref out of the ring. I feel like the spot would have been better if he just jumped out of the crowd and did this. We didn’t need the big theatrics of him walking down the ramp randomly holding the old hardcore title

I was just watching Triple H in the post show trying to defend/clarify his comments on the internet fans. I wonder if I didn't give him enough credit (or maybe now I'm giving him too much).

He's ragging on the internet on the same night that Cena debuted the black tshirt - the venerated symbol of smarky internet fans - and made good on his promise to kill wrestling.

This is the storyline. And that crowd today is exactly what they wanted. The smarky crowd that cheered Cena, the crowd that, in Triple H's mind, bitch and moan because wrestling will never be as good as it was when they were a kid.

They're going to lean into these smarky Cena-loving elements of the audience, he's going to slowly change things that lean into that crowd, while maintaining his promise to the kill wrestling for the broader, casual "mark" element. He becomes the symbol of those fans who never believe that wrestling will ever be as good again with the "last real champion" schtick... which is some inception level irony when you consider how those exact fans treated him forever.

It could be really intriguing if they can figure out all the threads.

Cole plugging Pats show right after the main event finish is just pure ass, something you would never see from JR back in the day. I cannot stand Cole
JR absolutely would've if Vince was telling him to, this is a poor post

First time I’ve watched a WM in full

Overall, really good, but…

Jey vs Gunther was an absolute snooze fest. Both looked like they were gassed before the match even started. It was slow, sloppy, and Jey might have the ugliest spear I’ve ever seen.

Joe Hendry gave me a good giggle I must admit.

And the less said about Rhodes v Cena, the better. Really bad ending to what was a decent watch.

Disappointed.

I’m not sure how else to express my emotions after WrestleMania. Last years Mania build and conclusion was so brilliantly orchestrated, the end of the true bloodline & the finishing of the story, that this year was always going to feel inferior, despite the potential for an awesome story and build.

At the end of the day, everyone is flat as hell that The Rock has just no showed. That The Rock inserted himself as such an integral part of everyone’s story here and then just… nothing. Surely after zero mentions or appearances since EC, we were gonna get some form of payoff or angle where he would show up. Where we’d get a form of answer or just the kick of seeing the Final Boss character that dominated our screens so well last year.

End result is that the moment of Cena winning his record breaking 17th world title is diminished. I knew it would happen one day and I imagined a million scenarios where it was such a powerful, memorable moment. Every imagined scenario much more significant than the one we got, overshadowed by a no show. 375 days of Cody’s reign as champion, the reign that begun with possibly one of the best Mania and story finishes ever, a year long of exposure and work, overshadowed by a no show.

I’m disappointed. Because of that, and because there was a lot of good stuff that happened on both nights as well, including the fantastic night 1 main event. However there is just so many things that have left me thinking they were so uncharacteristically off the boil this event…

Survivor Series graphics in the Uso/Gunther match

Nothing between Uso and a now babyface Reigns. Not even a nod or acknowledgement, unless I missed it.

No comeuppance for Chad Gable, no obvious reveal, no shenanigans, nothing.

Dana White featured and shown twice within an hour, both times looking as if he’d rather be anywhere else.

Far too many sponsors on the mat, taking away from the visual. I had no issue with the simple Prime logo last year but this is massive overkill.

Stone Cold acting rather incoherently. Even the fact he was happy to read the crowd figure out but not take part last year when the story and moment was right there. And driving the four wheeler into the fence and woman. What the hell?

The entrances being rather lacklustre. Outside of the night 1 main event, but even then I thought Living Colour sounded like crap.

Look, this is taking a rather negative view at things. And failing mention a lot of the really good stuff that happened too. I’m curious as to see how they respond. They won’t be deaf to the criticisms and I’m sure Cena himself will be pretty eager to turn this story around. I’ve been one who has supported the long term and even drawn out story telling process. But I really hope they get moving quick smart before they lose their grip on this current boom.

Night 2 thoughts

Good triple threat RAW Women's Title opener, noticed Bianca was getting booed. Happy that Iyo retained, hopefully she gets a good reign.

Drew vs Priest was also good.

Breakker impressive in the 4 way IC Title match, never thought I'd see Dirty Dom get a positive reaction when he won that title.

Good moment for Joe Hendry to be the mystery man vs Orton, match wasn't anything special though. Reckon they made the TNA World Champ look weak, it seems TNA are way below NXT in WWE's eyes.

Logan Paul vs AJ Styles underwhelming.

Good to see Becky Lynch back, an upgrade on Bayley. Didn't care for the tag match though.

lol Stone Cold crashed his 4 wheeler.

Main event was lame. Ric Flair still has the record in my book by a few world titles. Also **** Michael Cole for kissing Cena's arse. Also they should have put that Roman/Seth/Punk match in the real main event slot, would have been a way better ending.
