This is what I know about their history from a different thread

The information that I have been able to find is based largely on the WAFL Football Budgets (WA's equivalent Footy Record, which I have collected every issue back to 1954), Westside Football newspaper (1979-1997) and various club history books. I have also written to WAFL clubs asking for their input and confirmation, but only a few clubs have replied.

Anyway, the following images are what I have been able to find so far. I have combined each club into a single image for the purpose of displaying on this board as it would be very time consuming to post almost 200 separate guernseys individually. Some of the guernseys may look the same as an adjacent one, but they vary slightly with collars, jumper numbers, etc.

Straight off the bat, I do not claim to have the same 100% accuracy of Mero's website, but I am confident that it is pretty close. Also, given that lack of info, I have also assumed that jumper numbers were introduced in 1912 (one year after the VFL), but I am happy to be corrected. As always, I would welcome any feedback or errors.

Mero, any chance you can get the NSW/ACT and QLD/NT State of Origin jumpers on your site?
Seconded!

Some photos I plucked from footy records a few months back:

Had a dig around for New South Wales/Australian Capital Territory and Queensland/Northern Territory guernseys:

1990:

(How the hell did NSW/ACT defeat Victoria in 1990?!)

1993:

I'd actually be really keen to see 'All uniforms' pages for the state sides too. No doubt they are harder to research than the clubs but I've read some interesting excerpts suggesting the state teams wore some interesting guernseys over the journey.

Mero - just flicking thru some old GF Records and noticed that by 1997 the Crows had changed their logo so that "Adelaide" was alot larger than the "Crows" in their logo.

Mero, I've recreated all the team's guernseys for the AFL wikipedia page because the last ones were really inaccurate... but some guy's gotten angry at me and said that it could get them sued, I didn't include ANY AFL logos or any guernsey manufacturer logos or anything... is his argument legitimate?

I don't see how this could be a problem, even if you used the AFL logo, because the AFL wikipedia page uses it right at the top of the page.

The reasoning on the use of that logo is:

"The image is used to identify the organization Australian Football League, a subject of public interest. The significance of the logo is to help the reader identify the organization, assure the readers that they have reached the right article containing critical commentary about the organization, and illustrate the organization's intended branding message in a way that words alone could not convey."

And:

"Because it is a logo there is almost certainly no free equivalent. Any substitute that is not a derivative work would fail to convey the meaning intended, would tarnish or misrepresent its image, or would fail its purpose of identification or commentary."

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:Australian_Football_League.svg

Just from a quick reading of this, I would say to change that argument so that it doesn't also refer to jumpers would be contradictory, since the purpose of using a visual representation of a club's jumper (even if it had the AFL logo on it) would also be "to help the reader identify the organization, assure the readers that they have reached the right article containing critical commentary about the organization, and illustrate the organization's intended branding message in a way that words alone could not convey."
Thanks for the insight... I'm thinking about not messaging this guy back... he has already stated he isn't going to delete the images himself and he seems like a bit of a dick.

It can't get Wikipedia sued.
here's why.
1. They are not based in Australia, Wikipedia can tell them to sod off and the AFL would have to hire international lawyers which they will threaten to do, but never actually do.
2. Wikipeida is solely there to promote and inform about AFL, not to gain any advantage by aligning themselves with the AFL's IP, and the AFL leave them alone.
3. They don't make any money, so the AFL have nothing to sue them for.
4. They're backed by people with lawyers. The AFL prefer to pick on little guys who usually can't legally defend themselves.
5. The guy doesn't know what he's talking about, tell him to go look up any of the NFL, NHL, NBA & MLB Wikipedia pages and see what leagues with a greater degree of protection for the IP allow on Wikipedia. Then contact every single one of the people who updated their pages, then to get back to you.
6. If you want to use mine please feel free to. You're missing the Giants, the Suns Red is too dark, Melbourne page has the wrong logo and the jumper hasn't been done yet. StKilda jumper the Red is too dark and you'd be allowed to put the logo on the jumper. Same with North, Geelong and Port Adelaide. (Port you could add in the shoulders by the way).

Hi mero

About a month ago i went to a collectable fair in
Melb & brought a massive bag full of records from the early 80's

Ive came across one which i may think may be interesting to you.

July 16 . Round 17 1983

Geelong vs melbourne 125th anniversary game.

The front cover of this record has ian nankervis in a odd styled lace up geelong jumper + hat & robert flower in a melbourne jumper that is all blue with a red stripe right up the middle & red cuffs & hat. The pic is in color & not sure if you knew about this one. Happy too send you a photo or post one if you want

What is the "priority list" for FootyJumpers.com right now Mero, if you wouldn't mind sharing?
- Update whatever needs updating so it is not out of date.
- Everything else.

Right now I am snowed under with work, and while that's a good thing, it means I can really only add new jumpers as they are released and used.
This year I've done WCE Away, three GWS plus logo, three Bulldogs, two North, Richmond and GWS uniforms.
I've also changed the Melbourne logo on the jumper, re-named three Heritage jumpers for Adelaide as One-Off and did small amendments to socks on two or three uniforms.
Right now I am waiting for the next Sugar Daddy jumper which should be along soon, as there's quite a few slated for this year.
I have virtually no time for the research and drawing of the State jumpers of the Allie based states and/or the the main 4 states pre State of Origin.

The Saints have slightly changed their clash (no black outline on the red panels) and Freo wore the Starlight promo jumper in Round 1 aswell.

What's a sugar-daddy jumper?
A 8 foot man, made of sugar comes down from the moon and fathers a jumper.
Buys it take out chinese, takes it to the park, plays PlayStation with it, and when he's ready to be worn, the sugar-daddy floats back up to the moon to eat mangos.

But really, it's a jumper with hundreds of names on it of people who donated to the club...
