So I guess this can go here. I guess Mero would know.

So I was at a Rebel Sport today, checking out the soccer strips and jumpers. One thing I noticed is the material of both. Although I buy a lot of soccer shirts, I haven't bought a 2012 one. The material seems like a shinier version of the regular Nike Dry Fit material. But, it seems footy jumpers are the same. The material is thicker, but the vast majority of manufacturers use this towel-like material.

So, is this material worse than the mid-2000s polyester? Is it thinner? More rippable?

When did this newer material replace the shiny polyester?

Why do Melbourne jumpers feel so gross?

Hey mero

Im doing some research into the 1956 olympics & the demo match that was played. There was a combined side from
Vfl
& vfa vs a vafa side. Is this somthing worth putting on your site? Their is a pic on the wiki page of both jumpers

Sorry Mero, just bumping this. :)
I don't know whjy players wear sweatbands, and whether they qualify as uniform.
I would guess since half the players have their wrists taped, that there is nothing to stop them so they wear them.

PS Richmond Heritage jumper fixed.

Hey Mero.

Someone on another website (about uniforms/kits in general) had run across these (did not say how or where) and didn't know what they were. I assumed Richmond and Carlton, although I don't know if other clubs in different comps have used this specific yellow sash and CFC monogram on their jumpers and/or how to check for something like that. I asked for the tag info, but haven't gotten a response (and may never, who knows).

Is it possible from just these pics (with no other info supplied) to determine if they are Richmond and Carlton, and what year?

Any info is appreciated.
Both Richmond and Carlton would have been made by Sekem back when wool footy jumpers like this were in use. Neither have the Sekem patch.
Just at a quick look, based on the quality of both I would say neither are AFL used footy jumpers. The 8 on the Richmond jumper is see through, and VFL clubs used much better numbers than that, even when they were material.
The Carlton jumper looks to have an iron-on CFC logo, so that's definitely out.

I would be suggesting the 'Richmond' jumper is a jumper from a local comp, so it could be Westmeadows, Mitcham, or someone like that. The Carlton jumper looks like a $20 Kmart version that has never been used in a game.

My line of demarcation is official AFL games, so I won't be including it.
But I have done them at one stage, and while they are on the site, I have no link to them from the other pages.
VFL-VFA wore this:

And VAFA wore this:

Just to advise that the domain expired on footyjumpers.com
This is because Go Daddy only takes credit cards, and I don't have one here in Canada.
So for now, you can just get there from the link:
http://www.bomberblitz.com/~rmered/clubs.htm
All the information is the same, it's just that the actual domain it was linked to has expired.
I am in the process of finding someone local who will help me out.

PS If anyone feels the urge to chip in $25 on their visa card, I'd be happy to discuss it with you via PM.
I've got 90 days to organise it, so if not, I will get to it soon enough, but it won't be in the next week at least.

Just make sure that no-one can take the domain off you before you renew it. I would help out but my card isn't set up for online payments

Onya Omega.

Mero, how many AFL footballers have boot contracts? I assume someone like Buddy or Gary Ablett would have a personal deal. But do most players simply buy their own boots?
