my thoughts:
Jason - Funk is his thing but it is not really mainstream for this show's demographic. Not a fan of the song choice but he is a good performer with infectious energy and music seems so natural for him. Solid but not sure this will increase his small fan base. A pity because his performances as a totality so far deserve a top 3 finish. Likely bottom 2
Caitlyn - unusual song choice at first glance . This song requires a dramatic tone to show it's intent and not the smiley, cheery lite performance we got. Vocal was solid but the interpretation was a turn off to this chisel fan. Ronan has lost direction in his mentoring with Caitlyn. Another likely bottom 2
Reigan - Best vocalist left on show and should suit. Needs alot of emotion. Not a patch on Farnham's version but nonetheless is a good solid performance, especially the last 3rd but still flatlining a little in personality or edge. should be safe
Marlisa - Doing a Dami song. what a shocker. She looks to be wearing a dentist's headrest on her waist. Song choice suits her and her fans will lap it up. solid vocal and performing with confidence. not a fan of her tone but most likely safe
Brothers 3 -Jeepers the standards for Australian song choices has slipped. the great australian music culture of the 70s, 80s , 90s is long dead. Slicked back hair and looked like 3 stockbrokers. Vocally this is strong by their standards. This is typical Danni - cheesy and no substance. solid performance and will be safe
Dean - Now this is a quality australian song. Doubt Dean can match the original in vocal and tone. will see as I think he has been overrated to this stage with only his Stones song being a high level performance. does he have more substance than style? excellent song choice from Nat as it suits Dean's talking style vocal. He delivers on the performance side and his vocal rivals his best. Not in Nick Cave's stratosphere but not bad. he seems to be channel 7's annoited one. safe
Fairly even night with no real standout
Overall this year has been strong in the overs, woeful in the groups, barely passable in the boys and the girls the same. not the strongest year
Rankings -
1. Dean
2. Marlisa
3. Reigan
4. Jason
5. Brothers 3
6. Caitlyn
Prediction - going on previous voting patterns I am going Jason and Caitlyn with Caitlyn going
