I just looked it up and it's pretty simple, sorry for the dumb question.
No worries, I'm sure there's plenty of people that don't know, for both consoles.

You can also easily stream media straight from your PC for both consoles. For PS3 you have to download some software on your PC and 360 you can use Media Centre, although I personally use TVersity (for PS3 as well) as I find Media Centre sluggish.

PS+ is an impressive service no doubt which I continue to get great value out of, but when looking at the PSN, PS Store and general dashboard I do appreciate the reliability and design Xbox Live offers. Which makes me more than happy to pay my diddly squat a year.

In theory you can use Media Player for PS3 as well but it never seems to work properly for me. I use PS3 Media Server.

Yeah agree.

You pay for those little extras - not sure why you have to show a monetary value.
I can't show the monetary value of Foxtel over FTA TV, but having 9 games of AFL a week + NBA + EPL + The Simpsons for 4 hrs on a Saturday and Sunday morning is definitely worth the $50/month :)

Little bit more info on Dedicated Servers and 'The Cloud'.

Really want to see the cloud in action and how it'll affect us specifically - but the article is certainly positive for it.

I'm not expecting a 4x more powerful X1 due to cloud, but if all it does is give console gamers dedicated servers on all online games I'll be very happy.

Yeah wouldn't be very good if it's US based.

But from reports I keep reading there are some going to be built on the East Coast.

I doubt they'd be in Aus, at least initially. They won't be US though. Microsoft have servers in most parts of the world, would likely be Singapore or some other Asian country.

If its virtualised based tech (which it would be) you could move the servers wherever and whenever.

This. I reckon it was in the giant bomb interview with Respawn video about virtual servers being placed in countries that usually get screwed over, aussies were mentioned.

Haha yeah - they actually said "Australians always get screwed".

Glad they're thinking of us.

I found PS3 Media Server to be the best.

Windows Media Center will only stream stuff to the 360 that the console can play natively, like MP4 and WMV, whilst Tversity and PSM both transcode most video file types on the fly, meaning you could watch .mkv's and encoding profiles that would usually be unsupported by the consoles.

In that respect, PSM and Tversity essentially do the same thing, but I went with PSM because it seems to play with softsubs a lot better. The capability to do the on the fly transcoding does depend on the power of your PC though, as you'll need something fairly decent to effectively deal with HD content.

Despite its name, PSM works with any UPnP device, including the 360.

Yeah I've tried most programs including PSM, they're all basically the same. Actually I found TVersity slightly better for MKV's. I have a quad core i7 PC that I had built last October and it would still have to buffer regularly on PSM, whereas on TVersity it seemed less frequent. Not that I play many MKV's, I try to avoid them for that very reason. On my old PC I had TVersity Pro set-up with the web content, like Hulu although I haven't actually bothered with it since getting the new rig but those are the 2 main reasons I don't use PSM.

EDIT- You also can have Media Centre transcode naitvely unsupported files but it's painfully slow and I found it would have to buffer every couple of minutes. Some times even more. Just a real shitty program.

It's been announced already that Windows Azure (the 'cloud' service Microsoft operates which is being used for Xbox LIVE) is opening two 'sub-regions', one in NSW and one in VIC. That's two more than most other countries.

http://blogs.msdn.com/b/ausblog/archive/2013/05/21/windows-azure-expands-downunder.aspx

As part of our commitment to flexibility and choice, we are announcing the planned expansion of a new Windows Azure major region for Australia. When completed, this new major region will enable the delivery of Windows Azure services locally from Australia and allow us to better address our customers' and partners' cloud computing needs. The new Windows Azure major region in Australia will consist of two sub-regions located in New South Wales and Victoria.

Have you used the PSN website? That's all I use these days - it's so much easier. You can now queue up your downloads from there too.

No headset to be included with the XBOX ONE. Instead MS are advising you use the microphone in the Kinect as your mode of voice chat.

360 headset will not work.

Source: http://au.ign.com/articles/2013/06/25/xbox-one-will-not-include-a-headset
Microsoft has confirmed to IGN that Xbox One will not come bundled with a headset, as per Xbox 360 tradition. Instead, Microsoft points to Kinect's "highly sensitive multi-array microphones designed to enable voice inputs and chat as a system-level capability, both in-game and with Skype and other experiences."

If you want a standard Microsoft Xbox One headset (which Microsoft calls "a must-have," ironically), you'll have to purchase it separately. Additionally, Turtle Beach headsets and Polk headphones will be available following the console's launch. For context, Sony doesn't default to packing a headset with PlayStation hardware, but the PlayStation 4 is bundling a mono earpiece and mic.

Been known since E3, don't know why IGN are reporting it just now.
Everyone is reporting it now.

I think it's more just clarification and official statements.

Wonder how the mute function will work with Kinect, you'd hope there's some quick cut button like you get on normal headsets otherwise I wouldn't ever want to use it.
