Billions of people?

I'm sure there are billions in the world without net, for that i have no doubt. But how many of them would be buying a console? I mean its not like people in poverty stricken consoles would go and buy one....

I think it more affected people like troops overseas, miners (or people living in remote areas) etc

It was a 1 mega bit update that could be done from a mobile phone if needed
Ok so billions is an over reaction, but what number would you put on it? Thousands, hundreds of thousands at a minimum, but hey it's ok cause you can connect your phone to it every day.
Didn't think you would be that ignorant to peoples needs.

So people are dumb because they liked the direction MS was taking?
Are people dumb because they didn't like the direction they were trying to take?

I never saw the issues with the original product. Myself being connected to the internet all the time like most of society I would imagine. I still think one person thought it wasn't a good idea then everyone jumped on board and it gave people a chance to bitch about something.
Pre order numbers before the flip back up your statement

Peoples needs?

They don't NEED the console. Its a lifestyle choice. If the requirements to own said console don't match what they can provide, they don't NEED to buy it.

Its not like this is something critical to someone's well being, or something that you have to have to live. Its not like buying a fridge, but it'll only keep your food cold if you connect to the net once a day. Its a machine built for leisure. That is all.

MS made a call on how they wanted to connect the console. The backlash and pre sale figures say they made the wrong decision (no doubt they ****** up their PR too which didn't help)

But peoples needs? Cmon

Couldn't they still have the digital swapping of games and that, without having to sign in to the Internet daily? Was that only to stop modding of the console?

Also screw having to sign your Xbox in through your mobile phone

There's no doubt that a lot of people jumped on the MS hate bandwagon (I'm talking about the people that never intended to buy the next gen xbox not the people that were genuinely upset with the policies) but in saying that MS didn't do themselves any favours with the crappy ways they described the features/policies.

I jumped on the hate bandwagon, I probably wasn't buying one. But before I saw PS4 I probably wasn't buying a console at all at launch. They swayed me, so I guess I was a chance. But the reason I got my hate on, despite making the decision not to buy one at launch was because the ramifications that seemed to present themselves as a wider thing for gamers everywhere.

I didn't like that it had to be always online, I can deal with that. But considering I've lived places where hooking up a console online wasn't an option (on campus at uni) I didn't want to have a brick at the time.
But more importantly the companies stance in regards to DRM/ownership was downright insulting. So insulting that Sony came out the good guys for merely offering us what was a taken for granted right this generation.

I think all of my hate at the time was justified and I congratulate them for being brave/smart enough to see the error in their ways (in regards to DRM).

Seriously are you on the books of MS? Oh wait you got the sack for some twitter remarks didnt you?

Ok going by your logic the lights at home are made for lesuire, its not a necessity, but wouldn't it be great if we had to go connect our phone to the meter box every night.

Edit: I thought when I said needs it would be taken as gaming needs, not just in general.

Big difference between lights and a console mate. Stupid comment.
You always have a choice and people spoke with their wallet that they didnt want the Xbox1. Money was the only thing Microsoft was going to listen to.

But what annoyed me most about it was their arrogance, they wanted to treat their customers like criminals. Just check in everyday at your local police station to make sure you havn't committed any crimes, because we know some of you will...

Gaming needs? No one has gaming NEEDS. Gaming wants?

Comparing lights to gaming, now you're the one acting like the MS twitter guy.Mayeb i took it the wrong way, but you wrote people's needs, not people's gaming needs

Could we live without lighting? Sure, but it would be a lot harder

Could we live without having a games console. Of course. Its pure entertainment for those that can afford it

The people spoke with their wallets and MS backtracked. Simple

I never said it was a good business model. I said the way they announced it was shit and their PR afterwards was shit

Turns out the guy who did the worst job also no longer works for them and judging by his new CEO job, i reckon he may have had an inkling he was leaving and wanted to damage some of his "competition" and drive people away from consoles and into more social gaming like Zynga

With the processing power, snap mode, and connection to a large screen, that the Xbox One has, this device is capable of going from the 'break room' to the 'board room'."
"Utilize Skype," continued Lyons, "and the power of group chatting, to have that collaborative exchange with clients and co-workers, no matter where in the world they happen to be."

"Utilize the size of that nice TV screen to see every smile and nod as your next great plan comes together. The Xbox One with Kinect, as a Skype provider, is just as capable as a PC with an attached/included microphone and webcam. The difference here is that Xbox One and Kinect gives you the open space to move, gesture, show examples, and see everyone more clearly."
The cringe worthy shit continues

TitanFall and whatever else they have brewing for next year better be good when i'm ready to buy an X1. it'll be treading on very thin ice and if it starts focusing on apps and kinect shit more than the games then it gets sold, the same fate my 360 suffered.

I'm in for games and games only MS, hand gestures and talking to a piece of hardware is just awkward to me and im sure the missus will give me a weird look watching me talk to a ******* console, give me games, minus the wanky kinect gimmicks.

They don't need it then....

What don't you get about it. Microsoft had the stance of if you don't have the internet our console isn't for you. That's OK, its their choice, just like its your choice not to buy the thing.

They just didn't have enough people lining up to get screwed by them for it to continue.

Do you read the whole post or just snippets from them?

The sad thing is we didn't have a difference of opinion, you just can't see it.
I was arguing the point that MS were arrogant and ignorant in there comments and actions to there "important customers".
You argued with me and made the same points?????

Yeah, I do

But just look below. You don't think its ok for them to dismissive of people without internet. I do.

I was never going to buy one, I might later on now, but they can do what they want with their product.
