This is an unconfirmed rumour and should be treated as such. A reader has sent in word that K-Mart @ Broadway in Sydney received their shipment of Xbox's on Friday and were selling them on the weekend. Here's what he said:
"I was in K-mart at Broadway on Friday the 8th of March and saw they had all the launch titles for the X-box already available for sale. I picked up a game for the PS2 and took it to the register, when I got there I noticed the guy in front of me had an Xbox in his hands and was paying for it. I asked the shop assistant if they were selling it early and she said the store manager got the shipment that day and had decided to sell them early. So I picked one up for myself with a copy of Oddworld, went home and had some fun.
Today (Sunday) I went back to K-mart and picked up a copy of Halo and sure enough they were still selling the consoles. I just wanted to let you know in case any Ausgamer reader in Sydney would like to get their hands on one a little early"
Anyone else found this at their local K-Mart? Broadway is far too far for me to walk in my lunch 'hour' to check it out. Is anyone else around there and can confirm if this is still happening or if they have stopped because Microsoft spanked them?
Update 1: DarkMaTTer, who works at the store, has confirmed that K-Mart @ Broadway is selling Xbox's in violation of the embargo.
Update 2: If you are rushing down to Broadway to score an Xbox early, don't bother. K-Mart @ Broadway got spanked! They are no longer selling Xboxes. I guess that when a company spends millions of dollars on 'count down' advertising you don't run their embargo without repercussions.
